Hi DJDA,
When producing trance, first of all you have to have a giant kick. No big kick no big track. The bigger the kick, the bigger the track. There must be a begining,a middle and an end....but a climax is good, a build leading to somewhere going somewhere....the last hundred yards, full power....everyone knows its coming to an end....but a sense of structure and form in the arrangement. Musical sensibility, blocks of sound, layers, themes, inversions...A killer bass line is a must....strong bouncing the ball...riding and floating with drums....tight puntuations of rythmic burts, propelling the dancer onward and upward. Maybe try psychedelic interesting sounds, alien far out frequencies to lift the listener to a higher dimension, electronic manipulation is vibration with the power to enhance and uplift , with the potential of uniting energy around the planet. Whatever stage one is at...there are no boundaries or limits to music. Finally our goal is to produce music that we want to play the first thing we wake up to and the last you go to sleep to. Maybe incorporate these thoughts into your next track and we feel your trance/music will excell further.
Hope this helps.
The Best
S

Reason 3 is your boy. keep things simple with your software. If you wan't that big phatt trancy synth sound then the Roland JP8000,JP8080,ACCESS VIRUS & NOVATION NOVA will take it up there. Compress the reverbs on your drums on every beat, that will get it pumping. You'll hear the reverb come in and out and that will give it a nice effect, making the kick more defined rather than washing over the kick that comes on every beat of the bar, your get more "oomph. Also try creating a midi pattern so that you can control how the compressor fires against the the drums. Make sure you do your homework by listening to what the pro's are doing and last but not least , choose complimentry & up to date sounds that give you the edge. you can listen to some of our music at:

or join Synthex and the very best of all the underground artist at: Licensing@synthex.co.uk
