If you have any questions about the new artist page management system, please post them here. I will post a complete list of the new features and benefits here prior to the launch of the new site.

Thanks,

glad you got signed in!

Now you are ready to upload your songs and picture.

From the screen when you log in, choose the buttons on the left.

"Modify Aritst" will let you enter your "band name" upload your "artist picture" and write a short bio for your web page.

"Add a song" will let you upload songs up to the limit on your account (i upped your account to 25 MB) You can upload hi-fi AND lo-fi songs up to that limit. You can also upload a different picture to be listed with each song.

"Add a message" will let you enter a message for everyone to read when they first enter your site. (kind of like your home page....)

"Add item" will let you add items to SELL from your site. You need a paypal account before you can sell from your site. You can get one at www.paypal.com .

You can't hurt anything, so start playing around with it and you'll get the hang of it!

Also keep in mind, the ARTIST WEB PAGE system is a different LOGIN than your Unsigned Band Web Login. You will need to login to them seperately.

Hope this helps, and thanks for helping us test the system!!!!!!!

Thanks again for the comments and feedback rec.hat.

I hope to take it live very soon. I am sorting out a page counter bug that is keeping each view of web pages from being logged. This will tell you how many times each of your pages is being viewed.

I also have noticed some spacing issues as bands have started uploading songs, so I want to sort those out as well.

Keep the comments coming!!!

Well!

New site is too nice! the "Artist page Manager" is complete and so easy to use
It's the "more easy" to use ever seen! AAANNNNDDDD it's all in French for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!( this is really great for many frenchies!)
the only thing that would be much appreciated is a "progress indicator" while songs are uploading ( without it it seems much more longer than it is.....)
other point : on the page info for songs it's written " chanson de peau" which means "skin's song"....dunno what it means in english but in french it doesn't mean anything ( it's like when I use babel fish translater....sometimes there's non sense lol)

and : when the artist page is opening I always have a meassage : " script error on this page...do you want to continue to open it".....but with clicking "yes" it runs....

well for my first try : 1) very easy to use 2) design is really confortable
3) first time I see that radio feature!!! Great!

ouf!

alek which browser are you using? I would like to find out about the error message. I don't have that when I load your page.

I'm not sure about the "skin's song" either.... probably just a bad translation. Maybe it's referring to the picture you can show with each song you upload???

Also I noticed you uploaded a song but have it set to "HIDDEN". Did you do that on purpose? WHen the song is hidden, no-one visiting your page will be able to see it. If you want to make it available for play/download, go to the modify song (don't know the translation) button and unselect the "hidden" box.

THanks for the great feedback! And keep me posted on the error you're getting on the page.

I'm looking into that..

The system basically creates genre's by song as opposed to artist. One filter I am looking at would filter artists by genre (it would actually be looking at songs). This way if you have an abstract AND an ambient song, you would show up in both genre's.

Genre's are difficult because so many artists have songs in multiple genre's. The only other possibility would be to have sub-genre's. This way you could be in electronica overall, as well as ambient and abstract. But if you had a song outside of electronica, that would throw that off as well.

I think that sorting artists by genre is probably going to be the best bet, but let me know what you think. Basically a visitor could select abstract under the artist link, and you would have all artists that have "abstract" songs show up in that list (alphabetically or by song plays).

Tell me where you would like to see "genre"? Is it just a way to filter out the artists you want when "browsing artists" , or do you want it listed somewhere on your home page?

Thanks for the feedback rec.hat....

I could just imagine that when the site grows with more and more artists, the browse artists section is going to get mighty clustered. Having a way to filter them by genre would help that. I really don't care about the genre being placed on my page at all, that's what the song genres are for. People also like to look for a certain style of music when looking for new artists, so that's another reason to have the feature available on browse artists. I think that does it for now, if I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Hi

Yep that "skin" translation is about the picture lol!!!
I will change to english language, read all in english and see where there is this kind of non sense translation.
Song Hidden : It's an error!!!! I'll change it.

I use I.E.6 & google as browsers.

alek,

If you don't mind, send me the correct french term to replace
the skin question.

I'll fix it in the system.

Let me know if you still get an error loading your page today, I made some minor changes last night.

Thanks,
Ron

RRrrrrrrrrrrrhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!

So, well...ummmmm....

1) the song is not hidden now
2) I have the "error message" ( Error script Internet Explorer on this page...line 149 car:1 error : object expected....code : 0) only when I select French Language...I've tried in english and there is no script error...re-try in French : booom SCRIPT ERROR.....so it may be something in the french package....

3) I know why my song was Hidden!!!! you know that "Skin's"...."Peau" in french....the french Package translate "Hidden" by "Skin" (peau)!!!!!lol!

English text :
Hide SOng? : check here to keep this song on the output HTML output

French text :
Chanson de peau : verifiez ici pour voir le rendu de cette chanson en HTML
that means:
Skin's song : verify here to see a preview of this song on HTML ( lol)

lllllllloooooooooooooooolllllll !!!!!!!! ( that's why my song was hidden cuz' i checked in order to have a preview!!)

if ya want to change it :

Cacher la chanson : cochez ici pour que votre chanson ne soit pas visible en HTML

Other little points on the french package : on the block on the left some words are still in english :

Add Item = ajouter article
create station = créer station
Your Site = Votre site

Hope it helps! even if most of frenchies on the web read english and don't select french langauage....

peace

alek
