PLEASE READ AND REPLY !!!!!!!!!!!1
I dont want this to sound like I dont appreciate all the great things The UBW is doing....my question is this,
Does the UBW actally HELP in any other way than putting musicians in contact with other musicians. Unless record labels actually come here and listen, then the material is never heard by them. Does UBW have a working relationship with them in that manner, or is UBW just a mere musicians for musicians based high tech chat room?????As I said before The services I can SEE are great , Im just wondering if theres more "behind the scene" things going on??? |

In my experiences with this grandaddy of all things, UBW is a great outlet for all things.
When I had my old songs up here, I recieved a few e-mails from companies wanting a demo.
Like soundclick etc. labels and management and promoters scour the site. Yeah, we're here to get in touch with other musicians and more importantly learn of the other guys. Nobody knows everything, and its great to get one-on-one valuable input, something other OMD's can't do because the teams arn't dedicated enough.
But you gotta promote yourself. Like I said labels do come, but whether they want the music or not is vague to say the least. There could be one on here now as we read the boards. It would be a good idea to get labels and the such to sign in, but as I've seen on other boards around the net they get hassled to the point where they don't return.
Music is a waiting game for some part, and bloody hardwork on the artist's part for the rest.
There's no working relationship between labels here that I know of, but I know Digital Beats got an Electronic label.
This site is a house.
And this house as residents and as furniture it has music. If you want people to see your furniture you gotta invite them into the house
Like I said this site is personal for each and every one of us. We all have an agenda, Ron (the second most used word on UBW!!! ) is the landlord that lets us set up shop.
Start hammering labels. Get them to visit your area. Invite 'em for coffee. If it works for a back-dated scruff like me it'll work for anyone.
Now I've forgotten the point I was trying to make....I'll go.... |

Don't know man. I more here to listen than to promote. There's alot of listening tthrough average but decent material, but it's fun for me to find the "hidden bands" that nobody else has ever heard of. I mean how much truly excellent material is out there? that's what makes it the rare find aspect of it all. I'd like to think that one day a big label might find a band because the band/artist becomes so popular on a site like UBW - and that it all started here before the world finds out.
And then there's the idea that a record label might contact me saying - "Wow - you seem to love screening music and we like your musical taste. Can we pay you find the next artist we should sign?""" BWAAAAHHHHAAAAAAHHHHHAAAA.
Then I wake up. |

We are not affiliated with any 'Labels', we are an -open source- artist community that is dedicated to exposing our members to a wide array of listeners, including folks in the industry as well as music lovers. (see radio block and artist blocks for some of our tools) Really this site is more about the music than the business, although we try to accomodate both. Ultimately if you provide a site with incredible music, the business seekers just come. I don't think it works the other way around.
Take care and thanks for the question!!!
