Just wanted to say HI! to all alternative artists and listeners, from newly joined
band, ATP(adenosine tri phosphate). We are from TOKYO, Japan.
Suppose no many American people ever hear of any Tokyo alternative bands??
except for may be a few Lolita pop punk bands may be?.
Hope you find our music interesting..Japnasese alternative rock music.
Actually we may not be the typical Japanese rock band...
Many people around us in Japan..say..well..They call us weirdos.
(may be we are weirdos in US too???)
Japan is not really a good place for any alternative rock band to be in.
Not much alternative community, no t much music community to belong.
it is difficult to get REAL reviews, nor suggestions, supports from real listeners.
Can't really know how we are doing? with no one to ask to.
You are much much appreciated.
If you are Touring bands, looking for company to join force,
please consider us.
Or if you are ever interested in playing in Japan, let us know.
thanks for your music, thanks for your time
Looking forwar to hearing from many indie minds.

I like Nowhere Girl - although it cuts off in the middle during playback when streaming. I downloaded and it was OK though. may have just been a network problem.

Soulfish reviews Tokyo Alternative[B]
This Shining Hour.
After reading the bands thread introduction I was really unsure what to expect. The Tokyo music scene has long been an enigma wrapped in a riddle to me. It seems to cover all bases from punk to pop with an intensity that demands respect. Within a few seconds this track announces its presence with a wonderfully raw guitar sound which cuts across the soft intro of acoustic/synth pads with real energy . The song's melodies develop in a very Blondie/80's vibe which makes for interesting listening when the bass starts some pure funk/blues runs. The synth and guitars then hint at some of the rawer better 80's bands. All combine into a punchy little song which I reckon draws from alot of the same influences as Franz Ferdinand but with very different results.
Falling
Pure vocals at the beginning give nothing away and the songs initial very 80's sounds are then interwoven into a song that gives real insight into the bands geographical origins. It has alot of "Japanese" intervals (as I know nothing about Japanese music other than what I've heard on movie sound tracks please forgive my ignorance!) The beat pushes the song along and if I have one criticism, the production on hearing it streamed sounds a little muffled. The sparkle in the cymbals and a real sense of seperation in what is a complex interplay between numerous 'mini solos' never really come out enough to grab you in the way I sense they would with clearer space in the track. You can feel the cinematic theme that would make it great on a movie. This cuts both ways though.
In my Hidden Sanctuary
Now we're cooking!!!!
After listening to the other tracks this one rips into you from the start with lovely dirty guitar sound. Very punk/metal with some really slick vocals and playing. Tight and dirty. Just how I like it! Again there is this wonderful open 80's moments that wink at you from the occasional vocal melody and high hat beat-but just as you relax into nostalgia - there it is again - that vicious cylone of a riff sucking you into the song.
Thanks for sharing guys - you rock. I enjoyed listening. More please! |
