All, I’m updating the “WEEKLY FAVORITES” radio station playlists with some of my favorite tunes below. The musical style this time is organic rock – acoustic rock – through some ballad oriented tunes - but definitely _not_ heavy guitar rock like I sometimes post.

There are a lot (25) of new artists being added this week – I hadn’t updated the radio station in nearly a month so had some catching up to do. Since there are so many new tunes I encourage you to cruise the radio stations when you have the time and listen. (Probably a couple hours of listening). I feel like this is a very good list of tunes in this genre.

To stream hifi or lofi on the "This Week" stations click below:
Hifi: http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/play.php?mode=radio&id=165
Lofi: http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/play.php?mode=radio&id=162

I’ll be adding these tunes to both the “Weekly Favorites Lighter Side archives” and/or “Weekly Favorites Rock Archives” radio stations also in the near future depending on which playlists they fit best. You can view all of the radio station links here:
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/1424/radio.php

iHere are brief descriptions and links to the band pages for all artists featured:

Artist: Hurlee “Better Days” and “not crazy” organic pop sound blended with acoustic drum loops and interesting bass line. Vocals are a highlight.

The Sacred Dice “Defective Lover” – unique sound here. I’d mess up if I tried to describe it, but give this a listen.

Artist: Stephen Kelly “Chumpchange” - Really nice groove. Cool falseto vocal part. Like the space in the mix. Like how it picks up energy at start of second verse. Like the dobro and envelope filter guitar part in the back. lots of cool song parts going on, without any of it stepping on the other. Very good tune. Enjoyed this a lot.

Artist: Rose Reiter “Watching” - Rose is one of my favorite artists on the site. Interesting melodies in this one, and layered vocals. Reminds me of Paula Cole in this one. “ Mama” is very good also. Her voice is an acoustic feather.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/201/

Artist: Hugo “Low on Blood Sugar” piano pop-rock. Billy Joel comes to mind… maybe lighter side.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2213/

Artist: Josh Aran “I Await You” - I’ve been meaning to add this song to the playlist for a long while and am just now getting around to it. His other tune “High Like Atmosphere” has been on the Lighter Side playlist for months, but “I await you” is probably my favorite of the two Josh has posted.

Artist: Dust Rhinos “Cheers to You” is good. Very much a rowdy country feel. I’d previously added the “Ragged Crow” to the playlist and now adding this. Just a fun tune.

Artist: Grady McAuliffe “weightless” cool organic pop/rock tune.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2577/

Artist: Michael Fordays “Gabriel” modern take on traditional blues sound.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/1335/

Artist: Melanie Susuras band. “Go” - organic rock. Very cool. Bluesy upbeat vocal and music. “Sleep” is good also.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2135/

Artist: Chaz “American Roads” modern country song with very good vocal. Reminds me some of Tim McGraw sound.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2243/

Artist: Rob Augustine
“Where she dreams” - acoustic guitar - Dave Matthews feel. Really nice tune.
“A thousand dreams” is good too
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/314/

Artist: Stuart Robertson “Uniforms” some of the chord changes and melody reminds me of early Billy Joel.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/794/

The Lazarus Plot “We will always be the same” smooth pop rock ballad. Very nice flow and arrangement.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2879/

Artist: Bob Burger “Madalynn” catchy acoustic pop rock tune. Listen to some of the others here if you like this one.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2189/

Artist: StateDancer “Going Down With The Sun” funky pop tune. Blend of Smashmouth and Deee-Lite.

http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2534/

Ambidextrous “Goodbye” acoustic melodic popish tune. Fiddle blends nicely.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2718/

Levi Smith – Several interesting tunes – pop – listen to “She’s Overrated” and “Dallas To Denver” for a taste.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2841/

The Kiks “Deluge” warm ballad reminds me of some classic ballads.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2458/

Artist: Ed Redd
“Wake up with you” - Lighter side. Interesting offbeat chord progression and drums. Lofi only but it sounds pretty good at 56kbps.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/435/

Artist: The Lifestream “The other side” well done acoustic rock tune – with a snippet of heavy metal on an acoustic guitar at 2:29. interesting touch.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2398/

Artist: CNC Bound “It’s Around” - rock/lighter. Catchy acoustic tune with a rock edge. Half sung/half spoken vocal style works well on this song.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/293/

Martin Hannah “Tower of Faith” and “Piano Song” are a couple good tunes from Martin.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2866/

Artist: Mike Webb “Smell a Witch” - a little Tom Petty-ish.
http://www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/724/

And for good measure I’m adding Ghotti’s “Lately” and “Cried You a storm” to the playlist also. Great band.

Feel free to let me know what you think, and good listening to you.

Amazon, I was actually surprised how many tunes were in this acoustic/organic rock style (John Mellencamp/light rock style) I listened back to most of the radio station after I posted and was really surprised at the quality of the songs here. There's a few that don't fit the playlist perfectly but overall very good stuff in my view. I've said this before, but I believe there's plenty of unsigned talent and plenty of good songs to go around. It's really a shame more of the world doesn't get to hear "the good stuff" that we get on the site.

BTW - I agree - the sacred dice tune really is interesting. unusual in a good way.

thanks Ron. I can use all the good Kharma I can get! What you say is so true though. A selected playlist of unsigned artists on this site can put broadcast radio to shame without breaking a sweat.

Ohhhh crap!!!! Sorry Ron - I thought I was quoting you above but I think I actually clicked the wrong button and edited your quote.... Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed Embarassed I'm SOOOO sorry.

Ron - It should've been a clue when I was wondering to myself "I wonder why I have to manually type in the "quote" brackets into the coding". Thought maybe it had something to do with the new text editor.... instead USER ERROR!

I prefered a thousand dreams. Lovely wet acoustic guitar sound. Sounds like a nylon string. N-Joyed it - Thanks for the heads up Smili

Yeah, I liked both of them. For some reason I liked the former more, but both are cool. big rich chords. sound like they'd hurt my hands if I tried to play em. Very Happy

you're welcome. you've hit on something really cool with deluge. and the cool thing is it's already such a cool tune but there's farther this song could go with wiith live drums. I miss rock with the piano parts like this.
