Anyone else found that their music changes in style depending on where you are?
For example I have four days away at college, 3 days at home bureid in books. When I'm at college I take along Alannah, my guitar, and write some stuff. Come home, study then write some more stuff.
After comparing a weeks lyrics they're completely different. The college stuff is dark, very, very dark, as, for example...GUNSHOT FAMILY, about...yep guns....but the stuff at home is the folky stuff I always write. The good thing is I got two styles, the bad thing is I like the darker route, and I can't write that stuff at home.
Any suggestions on how I can keep writing the darker stuff? Anyone suffer from the Location Inspiration Syndrome Trap (L.I.S.T)? |

Don't know. Music changes my mood so quickly that I have a tough time getting in dark groove because usually the music won't let me stay there.
Maybe watch a video of ultimate fighting and turn down the sound?

I reckon if you are a certain personality, you are like a mirror to your enviroment. Whether that's Clapton and "Tears in Heaven" or shit that's very 'of the moment'.
Either way, you are a deep deep entity that has the potential to fit in anywhere and the skills to be real in most situations. Your music is an expression of you. not a deciding factor(despite being a constant) and therefor should you music not adapt, that's when you know you are in fact entrenched, blinked and in deep shit! So enjoy the transition_it means you're alive and awake!!! |
