listening to Spirits- I like the "strummy" and "percussive" guitar technique you use. The water running in various parts - kindof distracts me occassionally, but once I realize it's there I doubt it would be an issue on relistens. Reminds me a bit of a song by Edwin McCain on "Misguided Roses" album I think where he mixes in natural sounds as part of the percussive background of the song. (a bucket dunking into water and water running is one of the sounds).
I can't speak to the recording of the sounds due to lofi, but all seems to be well put together. I'm honestly not a huge fan of the reserved, half spoken, sometimes whispery, vocal style you have in some places, but again - that's a matter of taste. Lou Reed comes to mind a bit. You definitely have your sound and that works for you.

MIchael ... writing as I;m listening to Spend a Little Time With You ... reminds me of a cross between Dylan and The Dead . Has a nice "folky - country" beat with a refreshing melody. Nice tune.
ANd Murphy's Law ... that's a good one too !! |
