Just had a thought - what if when anyone listens to a track - they have a simple vote to cast - 1 to 10, to return them to the main screen - and those votes made up a chart too........mmmmmmm I wonder....Confidential feedback with no real effort required.....

That's a thought soulfish!!! I'm working on making a more reliable chart now. After I make the new changes, I want to monitor for accuracy. If that doesn't work, we may need to go another route, as you suggested. I just want to make sure listening is easy for the casual 'non-musician' visitor.

Thanks for the feedback!

Ron - since you're thinking about this - I'd be interested in a "reserve" of "cool tune" votes that I have available to cast each month - so I don't have to vote on each tune I listen to, but I have these "cool tune" votes that can be used to "tag" a tune when I hear something that I feel like is really worth a listen.

Maybe each month I have a restricted pool of cool tune votes (maybe 10 votes) so I'm only going to use these votes sparingly, and if there's a tune I find exceptional I might put 2 or 3 votes on it in rare cases. I'd guess votes could be earned based upon things like forum participation and also based on the number of tunes listened to. (obviously someone who listens to a lot of tunes would have more use for cool tune votes than someone who doesn't listen to very many tunes).

If voting for your own tracks is made impossible, yeah great idea. Soundclick and the defunct IUMA have this problem where you can vote twice for your own song per day.

We do need some kind of Rate this song / comment / review thingy.... It could be anonymous.. This way one can be honest without having to fear a backlash.. Smile
There is kind of a "click" in the forums...
There are a lot of bands on here that don't participate in the fourums who have some great stuff.. This would help out everybody. Very Happy

Well the message board on the artist page is already on the "to do "list....
I don't see any advantage into the "anonymous" things....As a musician I accept "negative criticism" as a way to make better and open my mind....And when i want to tell someone what I don't dig in his stuff I just do it...

Just my thoughs

peace

Gotta agree with Alek. Without criticism we'd ALL produce something beyound terrible. I would rather people find fault with the stuff I do rather than give it applause. There's faults in everyone's music, and the more BOOOOOOOS you get may break you, but if ya dedicated will do more harm than good.

Like I said....completley abolish the possibility of voting for your own tracks..as I did accidently... I was just trying to see what the voting points where...didn't realise it'd register before pressing an OK, which never appeared.

But don't forget, votes arn't everything. More people downloaded my tracks than voted. And it's the downloads we should all keep an eye on...now that's make an interested chart..just based on downloads.

You misunderstood.....I think there should be more criticism.... Honest criticism.
Yes there are falts in everyones music and especially my own. but I would rather hear
suggestions or falts like The vocals are flat or your out of tune.....Rather than man" that sounds awesome that is great you really hit it with that one...Good job..
It's all about helping each other out.... With honest criticsm that's the only way.
I mean no harm.. That's just what I see
