Hi All, I'm Phil

I put up my first song here about a week ago.....
http://unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/2492/

I'm completely new to this Internet Music scene, as I
have only got back into playing music, after having not
hardly picked up a Guitar for about 10 years.

10 years of computer games. Laughing
Yes, love my computer games Rolling Eyes

I was just wondering how popular downloading
unsigned music is for everday people.?
It would have to be a long way from main stream
I would imagine.

Anyway.....This is a great site. Very glad I "stumbled" onto it.
Even though I'll " NEVER " make the "Moderators Picks" list, it's
a great fun site. Very Happy

Also....................

I live in Australia, and for the first time about a year ago tried Internet
radio. I was only interested in hearing Over Sea's stations, but
the streaming was just to much OFF an ON, so I just got Jack of
it.
Does anyone know if good streaming from OZ to the US or UK
is possible.

cheers all

well, thanks to online streaming and mp3 techology, people actually listen. even though most of the listeners will be the musicians on this site, you will also get a big amount of plays by the ubw radio block featured on lots of other non-music sites.

Phil,

As Unproject said welcome aboard! It's great to have you here.

We took a poll a few months ago to find out what instruments people played, and one of the options was 'none'. This group probably represents the non-musician that visits the site. Since everyone doens't take polls, you can just look at it as a percentage to get a 'rough' idea. At this point, there are certainly more musicians, but I thing that it will even out as we grow and more people become aware of the site. We have gotten some nice write-ups on non-music sites.

As unproject mentioned, we syndicate our radio stations to 'non-music' sites, and there are hundreds of sites that feature our music. So, your songs can be streamed on hundreds of sites away from here.

Take care and thanks for the thought provoking questions!!!! Looking forward to getting to know your music!

Ron

Hi Phil,

I think mostly musicians are here. I think this site has potential to attract a larger mix of listeners, but while I think there's better music here than can generally be found on the radio, the "filtering" mechanism on the internet is not that great. You have to wade through a lot of "so-so" to find the gems and most casual listeners aren't willing to do that. Crack that egg of "filtering" and unsigned artists are right there with the best of what is out there in my view.

The limiting factor to me is the delivery, not the product.

I agree...I'm a "casual" musician (read: piano and random quitar chords lol) but i'm on the site because my computer illiterate friend wanted to put his band here...I listen to the radio on here and it's pretty good but it's really time-consuming to try and find the good songs when soooo many are posted..but I feel the same way about the radio, so no complaints here!

I came here looking for unsigned bands that might want to lend me some of their fine musical selections for my commercial and non-commercial video projects. I'm a video editor/producer/director. I have had projects and commercials hit the air locally and do an Urban music video show for the local cable system here. The actual producer for that is tied to the big labels but is always looking for local folks to shoot.

If you are in Ohio or nearby, or passing through, especially if you are an Urban, acoustic group or single act, that might be in need of a video, or if you would like to lend us some selections to use in our various projects, feel free to drop by the web site at http://www.DeepBlueEdit.com.

I would be glad to chat about it with just about anyone.
