Maybe in the wrong thread, maybe not, but I have a suggestion for reviews and rank.
It seems the ranking system has a mojor flaw. Any one band can promote themselves up the charts simply by clicking their song multiple times. This is obvious for some bands because they have had many, many more clicks in a weekly playlist. Thus, if your band has made a recording of themselves beating trashcan lids and badly playing bagpipes, and record it on a jambox, then upload it here, then click 100 times in a day, they can be #1 on the charts in no time. I realize this may be a bit exaggerated but nonetheless true. One possible suggestion would be to only register 1 play a day from any given IP address. That way you are getting Uniques instead of loose Hits.
Im just saying, scanning the charts, in my opinion of course, many talented bands are low while, well, not so good bands are way up there. Its just not an accurate reflection.
I dont mean to sound negative here, just real. I really like this site and want to see it grow in a way that graet bands will want to post here because they feel real competition to climb the charts. |

it is actually 4 times a day at the moment. it will probably be single-play-per-day in the future. |

DrumNinja..
Thanks for the feedback!
We actually do allow only "2" plays per day, per ip address. The technology is not fullproof though. I'm currently working on 'tightening' up the tracking to make it more reliable.
I agree with you, I don't know why people would want to raise their songs in the charts. Defeats the purpose if you ask me. If you HAVE to raise your songs in the charts, they probably aren't that good.
I WILL keep working on it!!!
Take care,
Ron |

Never thought of it but explains a few things I suppose. I always figured it was like gigs or something. If someone was in school or college or in a big office - all their buddies played there stuff. Guess it makes our 130 plays look a little more respectable. Must say though that some of the bands with 1000's of plays - there's gotta be more to it. I'm guessing that as they're high in the charts it sets the ball rolling and more people check them out more often to sample UBW's flavour.
Either way - how about seperate chart for newbie sings most played in first month or something to draw attention to music that's lost the shine of 'brand new' but not yet got enough plays to show it's head elsewhere, It would also be painfully obvious who's scamming in that chart - could be quite amusing.. |
