Michael Frazier’s “Passing Away”

At first listen of Michael Frazier’s “Passing Away” you can hear that the acoustic sound is really working for this artist. Frazier’s melodic tune allows you to take a walk into the life of someone less fortunate and see your own. The arrangement contains a much needed simplicity that becomes very memorable. Frazier’s vocal delivery is strong and very expressive throughout this song. Towards the end the repeating of “just passing away” is a much needed addition. The lyrics are very remarkable and keep the song on a great smooth pace. Michael finds depth and intimacy in an often forgotten about situation. The direction of this song reflects what music has been missing. It’s a story about real life accompanied by a good arrangement. This is a sure easy listening gem. Keep the good work up and continue to make wonderful storied to keep us thinking.

Michael Frazier reviews 2 Cubic Feet - Fragile

You asked for a review of your new song and neglected to tell me what the title is so I listened to Fragile. In addition you asked where your review was 18 hours after you posted the first request as if I sit here all day waiting for someone to ask for a review. Quite the contrary, I have a full time day job, I'm married and raising my 2 children. On top of that I am working on my own recordiings and rehearsing for upcoming gigs and recordings projects with friends. Needless to say, reviewing YOUR SONG is something I do when I get the time. It is not my top priority and my response should not be so heavy on your mind, I think.

Anyway, as far as the song; I like the intro and then the thrashing guitar - I can live without that. Got a really nice vocal - it would sound a lot better on top of something other than the thrashing guitar. I'd actually like to listen to the vocal without being sonically pummelled by that thrashing guitar - Imagine that. The volume is such that to hear the vocal well I feel as a listener I must endure a guitar volume that is exceedingly loud. You are sacrifing a solid piece of vocal work for a bunch of power chords. I'd re-think that in a heartbeat This song would work much better in a smoother mix. Dump the trash power chords and learn a bit of sublety. Volume and power chords do not equal good music automatically, at least to this listener. It sounds like you are out to pound this song into everyones face. There is some nice work here - the song is well constructed for a rock tune and again - I like the vocal quality of the lead singer and some good musicianship. I just think the overdriven guitar crunch is way overdone and much too loud. Do I look like I'm in a Mosh Pit? THis could be a cool listanable song with some other instrumentation. There is nothing fragile about this song - there could be but as it stands musically it is rock hard. If that's your brand, I say stick with it. I'm sure a lot of head knockers will love it. I appreciate the musicianship just not the texture. Best, Michael

Michael Frazier reviews Tracy Starr - Stand Up

Hey, sorry I missed your post, my apologies. Actually, I don't really care for this style, never did, never will. The band is very hot though and superbly tight. Musicianship is very solid as are the vocals. Great hard rock sound and decent lyrics for this sort of music. Good mix and clean recording. If I liked this style I'd stick it in my favorites. You are obviously some very solid players and I really do appreciate the talent. Best of luck, Michael.

Plan 9 - How about a link that won't take me an hour to load

I'll gladly listen to the tune. Sorry though, I am on dial up, and I won't spend an hour to wait for your wav download. If you want to offer a 128 kb mp3 file check back. Until then - I just can't make that kind of time committment. Michael

Hey, Michael! I'm glad to see you're still doing your reviews here.

So if you get a chance, could you listen to "Your Illusion" and tell me what you think of it? It's at the very bottom of my page.

Thanks
-Jack

Arrow btw, Pick_bass, fragile sounds really good - the melody is great and so are the vocals!

Hi mate!

The Green Street Three are a 3 piece rock band from Manchester, UK. We'd really appreciate an honest review of the songs taken from our forthcoming E.P. "Falling Upwards"

Cheers

Jonny
