Michael Frazier reviews Kris Farrow - Anywhere
Refreshing. Great message and solid vocal and guitar work. The arrangement has a coupole of spots where it loses the smooth feel of the main song but it still works pretty well. Decent vocal. Recording seems pretty clean and clear and the mix is solid. I like the harmony vocal - well done. The lyrics seem a bit forced into the music in spots - not totally a smooth fi t - a bit of a re-write is in order but only in a couple of spots. I love the line I don't need God to make me live this way I just do it cause it's right. Solid instrumentation and I like the changes in the arrangement. Very refreshing. Thanks Kris for the listen. I enjoyed. Michael |

Michael Frazier reviews Rain - Endless
Nice smooth tune but it needs a volume governor - all of the sudden the volume jums a couple db and that is annoying. If I want to hear the soft parts then my head trembles when you turn it up. Song needs a compressor on the final mix to keep everything in line. Pretty solid musicianship and the song construction works well. Need a bit of work on the final mix I think to keep the ralaxing feel you have going. Would be nice to have the lyrics posted. Sounds a bit like an unplugged Alan Parsons type tune. Just some fine tuning here for a better sound. Nice ideas. Enjoed the listen. Michael |

Michael Frazier reviews Zymotic
Gotta be honest here - this electronica stuff does absolutely nothing for me. A bunch of computer generated sounds programmed by someone just isn't music to me. Sorry, I guess I'm just old school where guys like Dylan and Stills could wow an audience with an acoustic guitar, a vocal and a message. This kind of music has no message - no meaning and it is incredibly repetetive and devoid of a human feel to it. It works alright in spots as a background to movies or something but just to sit and listen makes me want to turn it off. I appreciate the request and apologize that I just don't appreciate the music. I do, however, appreciate the creativity and work you have done to create your music. I'm just not a fan of the end result. Michael |

Michael Frazier reviews SubCultured Say It Ain't So
The mix on this tune is such that listening is painful. Vocals are buried and the guitar is in my face. I'm only getting a portion of the song. Seems like it might be kind of a fun tune but the recording quality is intolerable. Sorry. It's hard to make more meaningful comments on something that annoys you to the point of turning it off. Best o luck Michael. |

Hey Michael, thank you very much for giving me some feedback on my song "Anywhere". Feedback is of course how we all learn and get better at what we're trying to do, so I appreciate it. I listened to some of your music as well, and though it's not necessarily a musical style that grabs me, I did find a number of your lyrics to carry messages I have to constantly remind myself of. Thanks again,
Kris Farrow |

Some solid musicianship on those two sites - It would help a bit if I knew who I was addressing this response to but what the hey, hey. Not sure what people really want when there is just a guest link. So I listened and said this. Best to you. Michael |

Hey Michael, great stuff your doing. I have to agree with most of your reviews so i figured hopefully i could get an accurate review. We have 3 new song's on this site that hopefully could get reviewed by you (Rayne, Fragile, and Blame) but if one is the max then hopefully Rayne could be done, that is our most recent song on here. We did these 3 songs on a digital recorder in a basement. Please don't be turned off by this, I think you might be surprised with the quality(hopefully). Well thanks.
www.purevolume.com/2cubicfeet - For some unknown reason the quality here is better then on this site, they're all the same songs but yeah - weird. On UBW everything seems to over power the vocals for some unknown reason. So hopefully you could do your review(s) listening to this site instead.

P.S just listened to "Passing Away". Although not really my style of music, I enjoyed it's nice soft melody and the meaning in the lyrics. Good work. |

Hey,
I was wondering if you could review any/all of the songs done by myself, my current band and my old band. I understand that the levelling for pretty much all the tracks I've got up is pretty bad, but they're just rough recordings to get us started.
I'm mainly looking for tips on the songs themselves, and if you do insist on levelling, I won't object! =-P
Cheers. |

Michael Frazier reviews 2 Cubic Feet
Hey guys, sorry for the delay. Been busy. I listened to all 5 songs you have here. You obviously have a preferred style that involves a lot of crunch guitar. I'd subtle that up a bit as it tends to overpower the other aspects of the tunes. Mixes seem pretty well done and I like the vocals a lot - nice vocal quality and harmonies. Musicianship is quite solid and the songs sound pretty darn tight all around. They are pretty basic rock tunes in style and progression - nothing greatly creative - but very well done. Lyrics seem pretty well written - though they get crunched in the guitar sometimes and it would be better for me if they were posted. I like Rayne the best - the softer side suits me more these days. Still Kudos on the overall sound of your work and thanks fro the listen. I enjoyed. Best of Luck. Michael |

Honest opinions of one listener. Rap is not my bag. The vocal style annoys me mostly and the excessive swearing - I just don't get it. I work all day and come home to relax to some guy sewearing at me in his art? I just don't need it. Don't really need that much anger on my downtime either unless there is a story or a solution offered. Bitching is only that. What is the answer to the anger and pain - that's what I'm interested in. Rehashing the bitterness is not productive. Resolving it is.
On another note The Last Dayz and Letters From the Frontline are quite remarkable. Excellent lyrics - very pointed on the subject of war. I liked these two pieces of work -they meant something and didn't cuss me out for listening. It was still rap, but from a non-believer, very listenable and meaningful rap. Great work on these.
Overall you have a decent sound, though I am also not a big fan of beats and loops, you tended to keep them constrained and not overdone in the tunes I listened to. Mixes were well done sound quality is right up there. You obviously have some talent. Appreciate the listen and remember to Love and honor your abilities. Michael |
