For all those that work or have once worked in a big company this one should talk to you
You can here the song here: www.javanshir.net
Corporate Soldier
Fresh out of business school, young mister know it all
Welcome to the corporate world, big money boy,
let’s watch your rise and fall
So you think you’re something new ?
That you’re part of the happy few ?
So you think you’re in control ?
But you’ve lost your heart and soul,
You would kill your mom to reach your goal
Just like Gregor Samsa, locked in his lonely room
Your human side is dead, but the inner bug’s in perfect bloom
Don’t give a damn of the damage you’ve done,
Or people you've mislead
Abuse and lay offs sound pretty fun,
There’s a bonus for each falling head
Corporate soldier work and party hard,
Now you’ve got it all; beware
Wearing black ties, white teeth,
The next generation is walking down the hall
They all think they’re something new
With a modern point of view
Every day they gain control
They would gladly dig your hole,
Looks like taking you down is their only goal
Just like that man called K, lost in confusion
You try to find your way, thru a castle built on illusion
You work under the moon and the sun,
No time to go to bed
For you the end has clearly begun,
Guess who's the next falling head ?
You’re no longer something new
Kicked out of the happy few
Though you're future looked so bright
Came an e-mail late at night
Said: “pack your stuff, get out of sight“
Just like Joseph K. fed the butcher's knife
It's time for you to pay
All those years of arrogance and strife
Corporate world is stronger than us
A shadow with no face
No use to fight it or make lots of fuss
You won't avoid it's deadly embrace |

a strong text. I had to look up "Gregor Samsa" before I could appreciate the allusions to Kafka. I'd read Kafka at school, that's centuries ago. Real great, too. Man, I love your stuff. "The lightning and the thunder" is my favourite.

Hi Bernd
First of all thanks you for your very nice comments about my music & lyrics. It's always nice to see people appreciate your work :-)
As for Kafka, he indeed is one of my favorite writers, and somehow in this song the three Kafka characters (Gregor Samsa, K. and Josef K.) somehow fit well in the story. But it's good to see that the allusion was noticed :-)
As for Kafka, you had the chance reading him in German, because as good as a translation may be, it never really stands up to the initial language. I guess I have to start by German lessons again !
Tchuss !
Amir
PS: By the way, in "Lighting & the thunder" there is an allusion to another of my favorite writers. Let's see if you find that one ;-) |

Hello Amir,
although I've read George Orwell (not just "1984" or "Animal Farm") I didn't recall "Room 101". Had to look it up yet again. I had noticed the phrase, of course.
I've not yet listened to all your songs, but I will!
Cheers,
Bernd |

These words make me want to die trying to jump through a bullet-proof window. I dig the nihilism; gotta love Kafka-- and you gotta love art, it's the only way to survive in prison.
Big ups on the lyrics.
