Very haunting piano. That part of the song is magical. The drummer seems to loose timing and it's get's distracting. I would love to hear a studio cut. -rl |

Hi,
are you sure your stuff is Pop? An ordinary pop song would have a structure like verse - chorus - verse - chorus - bridge (or solo) - chorus. Your songs all have a verse - verse - verse ... structure. That's okay, there are very exceptional songs with that structure, but they are rare (Bob Dylan's "Like a rolling stone", the Beatles' "Michelle" - it has a bridge, though, also "Yesterday" - well that's worthy of discussion ...). BUT these "verse - verse - verse" songs easily lack any climax and any excitement.
Maybe you should place your songs under "Ambience" (music one might listen to while sweating in the sauna or while ironing shirts). Your songs have a certain atmosphere, they transmit calmness. That's okay, but that's not pop. Also, they are very similar - I listened to all 3 1/2 (as to "heart beat" I was actually waiting for the song to begin until the sound file ended - it sounds like a lengthy introduction, and suddenly stops altogether). I actually liked the low voice on "I don't know where to start".
As to the UBW counters: unfortunately they mean nothing, it's just clicks. You cannot tell if the people thought "wow, that's great" or "omigosh, what crap". Maybe the number of downloads actually has some kind of meaning, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Cheers,
Bernd |
