Michael Frazier reviews Ron Dillehay - Feeling Down

Hey Ron, thanks for the post. I anticipated a lot more responses in a very short time. Guess the users of this site have interests other than reviews.

Anyway, as for your song . . . I liked the guitar part - nice and clean and well played. It is somewhat simple yet very effective. You did a very nice job with the vocals. They smooth right into your guitar rhythm and the vocal blend is quite well done. Vocals are on time and on pitch - always a plus. Lyrics are well written for the mood and melody of the song. I especially liked the "can I feel you up" line. A bit of wordsmithing there against the opening line. Overall sound quality and mix is also well received by this listener. The song has a nice flow and feel to it and the melody is well crafted. This is a nice piece of work, Ron, and I really enjoyed the listens. Thanks again for the response and best of fortune to you. Michael.

Thanks ALOT for the review!!! Awesome too that you actually read the lyrics!!!!

There are lots of bands here looking for reviews, they just seem to come sporadically!!!! We are a young site and still growing quickly, so I hope you'll stick around!!! Reviews are ALWAYS central to having a great "community", which is what I'm trying to build here!

Thanks again for your great review and GREAT to have you at the unsigned band web!

Ron

Ahh, this one's difficult. A) All my music is recorded with Microsoft's Sound Recorder through a cheap microphone on my computer. B) I have twelve songs as of right now so it's tough to choose which one I'd like to have heard the most. C) None of these are final recordings.

I'm going to have to say "Rome Is Lost," though. Can't wait to see what you think!

Thanks,
JMJ

Hey michael,

Would you please listen to the PURE RED IGUANAS and let me know what you think. We have two songs on this site. They are;

1. Seems like rain today and,
2. Face of the world.

You'll catch us on www.unsignedbandweb.com/music/bands/417

Hope you enjoy. I'll give your stuff a listen in the meantime.

Cheers,

Michael Frazier reviews Jack Maisie, Jr. - Rome is Lost

Sure, the quality could be a bit better but overall I found the song quite listenable. I like the picking guitar part and the changes it goes through. You also have a good lyrical melody for this song. The change to strumming adds another dimension and helps the song create a bit of power as it moves to the ending. You have a unique vocal quality and it plays well with the sad, sort of contemplative mood of the song. Lyrics are pretty well written and I like the twist on the conventional cliche with the "no roads lead to rome" line. Overall, I like this tune. Nice work Jack. Michael.

Michael Frazier reviews Pure Red Iguanas - Seems Like Rain Today

Sweet acoustic guitar part and well executed. I like the song construction and the changes. The solo is simple, yet effective and plays nicely with the melody of the the acoustic and the vocal. There are a couple of minor spots where the main vocal drifts the pitch a bit, otherwise well done. Backgrounds are reminiscent of the Beach Boy style and adds a nice flavor to the piece. I like the vocal / lyrical background vocals at the beginning and the end of the song as well. Overall a nice listen. Thanks for posting. Michael.

Michael Frazier reviews Pure Red Iguanas -Face of the World

Great guitar work on this and the bass and mandolin really add nice touches of their own. Acoustic guitar is well played with nice melodies and changes and the bass really delivers some cool lines in support. The mandolin really helps build the melody lines into something that sticks in the mind of the listener. Nice work guys. Personally, I don't care for the kind of "rattling" drums/percussion for the first minute or so - they just seem a little out of context for the style of the song and act more as a distraction from the main parts of the song. The drums worked better for the remainder after that opening section, I thought - they were more on the beat and in support rather than at odds with the other parts. Lyrics are well written and meaningful. Overall another pleasant listen from some artists with many obvious talents. Keep writing and playing and enjoy every minute of this creative avenue of expression. Not everyone gets to do so. Michael.

Hi Michael. Just listened into Free and Flying, man what a great piece. I'd love you to review:

Long Drive Tonight

This is kinda my first experience "playing" guitar. The rest of my songs have always been done with loops and samples.
Thanks.

Michael Frazier reviews Don Brooks - Long Drive Tonight

Still a bit rough but darn good for an early effort on guitar. Glad you decided to challenge yourself - much better than programmed beats and loops in my mind - no matter what people pay for. Nice choice of chords for the intro and verses and they work alright for the chorus. I only noticed one chordal abberation so you are getting there. I like the lyrical idea and the song construction allows the story to unfold. Mix and recording quality are good making this an easy listen. Watch the vocal pitch on the minor chord as it wants to stray a tad though not really off mark. Enjoyed the tune. Best of luck in your future efforts and thanks for the listen. Michael.
