I'm trying to broaden my music horizons and I'm sick of the mainstream pap that dribbles out of the radio, so I thought I'd try the good ol' Inter-mo-net for something new.
I have very eclectic tastes but right now, for reasons of my own, I'm most interested in seeing metal bands with a spooky, ethereal kind of nature. Nothing too growly, I like to be able to understand the words first time, and I like something fairly melodic with a strong beat. Bands that major in clanky industrial backing and interesting sound effects are also good. I'm thinking horror movie soundtrack stuff here.
Can anyone point me to some good bands that fit that description? I strongly prefer bands with free song samples, whole songs or brief snippets doesn't matter so long as there's some lyrics in there. I like to try before I buy.
