Does my music (the actual music itself, i know the recordings arent great) sound like it could potentially be widely appreciated? If not, whats missing or what am i doing wrong?

By the way, whatever happened to harsh criticism? I miss it. I dont want to be under any illusions. Give it to me like it is, but dont leave me in a dead end (ie advise me).

yop... seems your record quality is good, however the instrumental and even vocal need more accent sometimes, some detune could be cool, your record sounds very linear, some mastering sophestication would be welcome.I know this is not goa but some more fx events would be fine.(as minimal touch)
singer is good but like i said there's a lack of accent in your stuff.
this need more flavor with originality touches in my opinion.
this sounds very well but some exitation is missing and possible if you work more.

i was listening "huh"

I appreciate the comments, and i have some questions.

What do you mean by accent? And linear? And how would mastering solve that? And what is unoriginal about my music (im not being defensive, im interested so that i can fix it)? And i get the feeling that sometimes my music might sound outdated, not very "now". Is there any truth in that, or am i imagining it? And if it is outdated, how can i fix that?

basicly accent is just a note that get a higher envellope of volume on a tb303 old machine as an exemple...in the instrumental some notes in the melody make it sounds really better with some accentued notes nor keys.
you may know this but your levels with volume are just flat all the project long giving a "borring" feeling...
you can use limiter fx more and volume accent and curves and automations with filters.
i know this is not trance like i do but you must work you studio enginering better and the rest is all good.
linear mean that the content next another is simply guessable as a formula or equation.
fantasy art lies in making false random notes...this is the genius...
you need the final touch for your record and i'd say it's semi pro (which that isn't easy at all cause everybody think he only have to pratice and trust to be good...this is false we need to learn really...your producer skills are not as good as singer and composer...you need more richness in mastering for your records or they don't look like warner's stars ones...and you may do it...just get adviced by pro producers and learns some technics and thingies on the net...you are not over your quest...me too !

PPB, this is what im getting from your advice (the way i understand it, or how i could apply your advice) :

- Use an expander on my solos (maybe not so much on guitar, but more for keyboard) so that some notes become softer/louder than others

- In my choruses, just make everything go slightly louder

- Have some sections be more unpredictable

- The actual song itself (i presume we're still talking about "Huh!") is ok as a composition. In other words, people who are into this kind of music would be happy to buy it.

I can deal with that, however when it comes to making sections unpredictable, i always thought that i did that. The song has many different sections. Also, isnt it good to make it somewhat predictable to an extent? If im not getting the balance between predictable and unpredictable right, where am i going wrong? Isnt it more the case that the song is maybe just too long? It does drag on, i think. Then again maybe as a dance track it works.

Also, a friend told me that i have production issues and then he offered to give me some drum sounds. Do the drums on that song (or the others) sound wrong or outdated?

I dont really rate myself highly as a singer.

your ideas are not bad andi'm like you i'd like my records to be perfect ect)
the fact is that your record need more events in it.
the goal is still to make better with your stuff and i'm like you i'm never satistifed really.

Yes your song is enjoyable, mines are too and we can prove it i guess, if i watch my stats now i'm #3 in trance with a free account here, so i can say people like my stuff and they just download it...
Yes this is the same for you man, you are good enought to climb some unsigned sites like here and beeing really downloaded if the site is not asking the user to make a 3 page question with ads account.

The real problem is : i'm #3 in trance here and have like 40 downloads per day just with 1 track BUT : on soundclick nobody purchase my stuff...i'm #30 on 12000 in house music....#70 on 26000 in trance music...but NOBODY will never make a sick account to claim buying my music.

If it's free and easyly downloadable ppl want it this is sure.

If you want to make money and beeing called pro (isn't proffessional a job of what you live?) you need an army with you.

Music world is kind of mafia...without the phat don kiss if you are pretty babe to put you on the scene you won't cast a shit.

Will a man alone be the best singer, the best guitar player, the best producer, the best sound engineer, know everything on music as the 200 persons involved to make a madonna record...BE a LONE man ???

this is why we are not "pro"

i just conclude all this is sick and there are just job in music...i mean i can choose between 20 or 40 cd of trance in my biggest french music stores and there are 300 000 bands on soundclick, and on these site 90% of peoples listen 3% of the music site content.

beeing a musician and would like to be recognised has always been the same thing beeing elected president...

Deal with music can be passion, passion is meant to be way of life...maybe life is kind of illusion somedays...music is unreal Smile

i'm not sure of the widget term but if you refer to banners or things like that you must just copy the html code where hosted your gadget beggining with < and closing > in your tag signature.

you may post this subject in the bug section, brother gorgatron (mod) is us native and fine digital man with pc.
