I've got some percussion problems for my aspiring band...namely I have none. Looknig for drummers I've found the same laid-back, hard to contact persona that seems to characterize the drummers of my area. However, I've considered an alternate route: world percussion. I believe it might be easier to simply teach someone to get good sounds and rhythms out of bongos or djembes.
Is this a good idea? Do you think I could make an adequate percussion section with just some simple bongos and things at first? Has this been done before? |

well, the answer to your questions all depend on what genre of music you wish to create, but i can tell you that if your questions is "has this been done before?" ...the answer is in all probability "YES!" lol that's no biggie, though.
are you more concerned about have someone for live shows or for recording? for recording, you can get loads of killer software out there that will help you accomplish your goals with a little patience and a little money, unless you're more into the slightly less expensive d/l's floating around in cyberspace. lol
anyhow, it's pretty much impossible to give you a very good answer without more info.
good luck! |

We're going to be pretty versatile in the beginning, but we're looking at electronica or rock or jazz or any sort of fusion here. And when you say programs you mean drum emulating programs? |

yes he means emulating programs...such as BFD2 or EZDrummer......
and yes....bongos and such or world music has been done before with the likes of a band called "Dead Can Dance".......
but it might make for some interesting rock music with say bongos.....lol |
