hiya,
this might be the first of a couple of threads tonight....
Okay, I was curious to know how many bands on here have ever played live gigs?
I'm getting to be an old git now (30) and I've never actually managed to get the guts to play a live gig. What a loser.
That sort of leads to another question, which is what sort of age are most of the people on this site. Am I the oldest white man in UBW land?
I'm having one of those goddamn frustrating days when you feel like you ain't ever going to pull a track together again... I seem to do things in bursts and seem to be in a bit of a lull at the moment.... aaargh... I think it is time to get a collaborator, to pull some of the things out of my head and get them on a round shiny disc..... which leads to my next thread.... |

played live mostly when I was younger, but not in anything I'd call a professional gigging atmosphere with lights and stuff.
I got you on age - 33 and counting.

playing live would be kinda cool, can't see me at it though, stage fright an'all, thought of no-one turning up or worse, 5 in the audience and the're all family who leave early then come back 10 mins. later with Mcdonalds, but I'm not ready cos I'm still playing and everyone gets upset. No way man! Even though I'm only 13 years old, can't see it happening to me. |

I've played live MANY times... Playing live is one of the biggest thrills you can ever experience! Although I still write, I don't really perform live anymore, and I miss it! If you have the opportunity, you should ABSOLUTELY do it. It is WELL worth overcoming your fears and putting yourself out there. GOOD LUCK!!!!
Ron....

Played live a few times - never as "mistrust", though.
I was the keyboard player in a band with my brother and his mates years ago. Damon Gough (aka Badly Drawn Boy) used to come and watch us practise (when he was a scruffy young kid with curly hair!). My brother taught him a few guitar riffs and stuff and encouraged him to start his own band.
Just thought I'd name-drop!!!! |

I'm 31, almost 32 and I never played live.
I deejay'd a lot though so I have been before crowds.
next friday is my first gig ever so......
the thing I'm most nervous about is how people react to my music, do they start to bounce or do they walk away.
can't wait to perform though. |

Played live, but only with others doing covers. I've yet to go live with y own tunes.
Doin' covers is OK, but y' just can't put any more feeling into 'em than when they where first recorded.
Hey, tuttle...I need members...wanna join...lol (Only kidding, your music is much cooler.) |

we play live almost every week now...trying to constantly tour around the east coast US. We're all 20-21.
Playing live is the single most fun part of being a musician in my opinion!
If you've never played live, definitely give it a try, no matter what age! |
