just a tip to people dropping myspace, or other off-site links in the forum:
it's all good, and somebody will probably review your track at some point, BUT you're far more likely to get reviews, and several of them, if you just throw a few tracks on a free artist page.
this site doesn't work like myspace with all the custom stuff. the profiles are very uniform which creates and environment that solely focuses on the music, not the rest of the package. the site's founder can put the whole idea to you more eloquently, but that is the basic gist.
with your UBW profile, you can put a link here in the forum that's connected directly to a track, so people just click and the song streams in their media player. it's easy and many of us are too lazy to go off-site and then muck around with the myspace Flash player.
SO, if your really interested in reviews and connecting a bit to this community, then it's actually in your best interest to get a profile here. it's also a good idea because it's not smart to put all your eggs in one basket, especially the myspace basket. it's a big, big site, which also features big name acts, whereas this community is strictly for unsigned music.
BUT, if you're just more interested in getting your name out, you should perhaps post in the " Music Promotion" forum. but if you'd still like some reviews, it's cool to post in the Song Reviews forum you're currently in...just give everyone a specific track to review. there is a whole science to that which is explained in the other sticky in this forum and even more promotion tips can be found here.
Thanks and good luck! |
