Well this track is pure minimalism. A genre I have never really liked but darkwoods adds a nice bit of spice to his song. The main theme is certainly the vocal loop..backed up by some very nice guitar plucks and sounds...this song is a testament that minimal techno can actually be quite good! The album title fits this song like a glove..deffinatly makes me thing of white sandy beaches...
So the intro starts off with a nice old skool bassline...very 303 sounding. The lead into :35 with the guitar is great..very subtle and the guitar part adds a nice contrast to the intro. The bassline is not my favorite, but certainly tolerable. The vocal sample is great..haha, "people think they know everything are so wrong".
This is good minimalism...it gets the vocal riff stuck in your head. And the vocal riff is great for techno...almost a riddle of sorts. But really the song would not have grabbed me as much as it did if it had not been for the bass change at the breakdown..ohhh.
1:27...the bass line here is great. very driving, very simple and lots of thump. The bass just drives the little background synths and guitar even more. The bass and the melodies have great interaction around 2:10. My only quibble is at 2:30/2:31 it sounds like a guitar note is missing...
Great minimalism, its very hard to notice all the subtle changes and lead-ins unless you listen carefully...and if you take the time you will be pleasantly rewarded. As with most mp3's it needs some more highs, but this track has an intelligence about it that really makes it a pleasure to listen too...make sure you check that missing note though
