just had a listen. only negative was a few pops here and there, but that's hard to avoid with compressed streams, so doesn't tell me if it's the track itself or if the file compression is the culprit.
i think some fast shredding would have been very appropriate over part of it, and this would be a great tune to have a reprise with, but come back double-time! it's really good as-is, too. i really like the tones you used and the way you mixed the initial overlapping of guitars. nicely done. the one is a little louder than the other until they blend. the track is a different kind of metal than what i recall hearing from you previously. was it drop D?
anyhow, good work man! |

I appreciate the comment from you Gorgatron.......you never let our internet friendship interfere with the truth and I appreciate that...i would rather have people tell me what they think, rather than sugar coat it......maybe this weekend coming i will throw some all out shredding in there just for you!!...haha...

no problem man! you're very much welcome. i think you're guitar port is working out well for you. if you know what you're doing, you can get some great sounds. i'm still unsatisfied with how my guitar sounds. that's why i haven't sent you anything. lol i know, it's been like 8-9 freaking months already! lol i'm switching out the pickup again because it's too low and beefy for what i'm looking for. going back to a single coil. hell, Hendrix made it work!
take it easy and give me a heads-up if you do any more work on this track! |

"i'm still unsatisfied with how my guitar sounds"
Really??....what sound are you going for????....have you thought of hitting the local guitar shop and playing some different guitars to find the sound then just buying the same pick up that's in it?? if you go to seymour duncan's website, they have soundbites of what the pick up sounds like in different guitars.....
this is what is called the tone wizard...it asks you what you have, then the wood of the body and neck, then what genre you looking to play, then it has suggestions on pick ups with audio samples........hope this helps!!
go here----->www.seymourduncan.com/support/tone-wizard/
and if you go here ---->
http://www.seymourduncan.com/products/electric/humbucker/progressive/sh8_invader/
this is the SH-8 Invader pickup i just put in my 1989 Squire Strat II......that is what i used for the above song! |

yeah, dude: Really! lol but, i think i have figured what is going on. the type of tones i'm looking for (light on effects really, and not super distorted, very balanced spectrum) a standard humbucker just is both too hot and there's too much low-end and beefy mids, but weaker highs. i don't solo, so i think i've been approaching everything the wrong way. i've used the tools at the S. Duncan website before, but thanks for posting them just the same. i actually considered the stack coil that i think i've mentioned to you before, but i've decided to use a V/II like i have in the neck position. i used it all the time anyhow, so why not just go V/II in both positions. it'll work out. need a different amp at some point, too. |

Hi Gunner,
That's a lovely bit of guitar - sounds so controlled and crisp - great playing.
I'm glad that I saw your page where it explained that it was a soundtrack - I was imagining what a vocal might be like on this!

Well, this is how I write these.....I'm not too experienced in writing for vocal content.....however I am willing to try....do you have anything in mind??
and if so...I could re-do without the extra guitar part and add a bridge or two....or something like that..lol
Glad ya liked it... |

I like it. The only thing is, I wish it was longer. Your stuff always leaves me wanting more. |

Yeah I know man, I do apologize for that, but, maybe I am doing this on purpose.....lol...but I am really not though...lol
This was the longest track yet at 2:33, I am going to focus on putting together longer tracks when I get time.....
but glad ya liked it!! |

i have to disagree with Smileygeezer here. i don't think i mentioned it the other day, but i like the fact that your tracks are short and sweet. i think that's usually a good idea for instrumentals. i'd concede that it could be maybe a minute longer, but it would have to be a minute of something different than what's going on. what i like about your instrumentals is that they are not super repetitive. it's good to leave people wanting more. they keep coming back that way. |

Well, I must admit that one of the reasons my tracks are short is my self diagnosed music A.D.D. i lose focus sometimes on where I'm going and where I wanna go lol....alot has to do with spare time to spend on all the things that are going on to record etc..etc...so, short tracks it is, and yes i would have to agree it is a good thing to keep them wanting more..lol
PPB.....no sleep and walk the streets?? haha.....you wouldnt dare do that here in the Detroit area...lol.....but glad ya liked it!! |
