hey everyone! i'm all new to this site, so i don't know what to expect. i'm not in a band, "i'm with the band" (hehe) The Street Team as most call it. RAKE is the name of the band. they've had many spins on the local radio here in Edmonton, Alberta called 100.3 The Bear (www.thebearrocks.com gotta give them a free plug) these guys grew up with Nickelback (one member went to college with Ryan Peake), opened for them and Default last year. Speaking of Default, Danny (the drummer) is a great buddy of theirs, and last month RAKE travelled to Vancouver to do some recording where Danny was doin the producing, and next month they are back in the studio to finish the album! as for bands they have opened for, 54-40, Big Wreck (before Thornley), Headstones, Theory Of A Deadman, Shocore, Finger Eleven, and more. Their roadmanager, Rod (aka. ChickenHawk) has been keeping in contact and working with bands such as Thornley, even Saliva! to get the rock a rollin for the guys! check out their tunes and maybe their site: www.rakerocks.com or www.rakeonline.com and let me know what ya all think!
cheers! |

We should all be so lucky as to have a "melody" supporting our music!!!!
As for Rake... AWESOME band. They have SOOOO much talent, they will definately go as far as they want to!
Great to have them and "MELODY" as part of the unsigned band web!!!
Ron
ps. melody.... ya gotta pick an avatar to get rid of the dreaded "x"..... LOL if you want, you can pick one in the profile link in the menu bar at the top of the forums. |

i know what you mean about nickelback...lots of people turn away. so here's a better way to describe RAKE, 'if you like Trapt, Maroon 5 or even Default (don't be judging those guys till you meet them. they're a smart crew of guys!) so for those who have yet to check out RAKE, get to it! what's holding ya back!!

That's fantastic!!!! I'm sure they will come out with some great material. Maybe they will be so gracious as to share one here?!?!?!?! Either way, it's great to hear they are blazing forward.
The UBW wishes it's vast Pot of POSITIVITY to RAKE in the hopes for a great album!!!

Melody, Both of the Rake tunes posted on the site here are good enough to be commercial successes - especially "I don't mind". Great songwriting, performance, and potential to have wide appeal without selling out the sound.

this weekend marks the beginning of a long week for for the guys of RAKE. Saturday morning they officially arrive in Vancouver!! Recording starts asap!! 24/7!! i'm sure Danny Craig is used to the crazyness of recording with the other guys in Default, but this will be RAKE'S first crunch to get the album done in a "real" studio! i wish them the best of luck!!
cheers! |
