well what i mean is more of what you might hear today on the radio... don't get me wrong, i like this tune, but it is more something i would hear in the 80's, ok let me clarify, my daughter wouldn't listen to it. does that make sense? and yes i'd love to work up something... that would be great! |

all right...i'm looking for something to complain about...lol ok, the song ends in the middle of the solo!!! you can't do that to us. lol let that shit ride! lol
you guitar tone turned out nice, man! nice crunch, but lots of definition. loved it on the riffs...also loved the riffs. classic! i can't put my finger on it, and it might just be something that just involves a tiny EQ adjustment, but something doesn't quite sit right with me on the lead tone. it might just be how it is set within the mix at the moment. it's really, really close to what i think you've been going for, though. that last little bit of trying to get the tone perfect is often what does my head in. lol really good though, man! i like the way you built you drums. i think you also picked a really good set of loops for this style. i like the toms in that kit and how they sound in the fills. it all sounds pretty full w/o bass, too. would still be cool to get some in there, though.
having another listen, and am still really pleased with the shredder tone. nice work and i look forward to hearing how this progresses. |

Critical Down--
Without sounding like an ass...I hate the crap that is on today's radio....lol
with a few exceptions, Wolfmother,Disturbed etc.....
But thanks for the nice comment though, majority of my growing up was in the 80's with the likes of Judas Priest,Motley Crue,Van Halen,Accept.Ozzy etc..etc.... so they truly have influenced my guitar playing.....I try not to let it show though...lol
Gorgatron--
I listened to the solo again this morning and I think i may have the answer to your problem....at least you will be able to sleep tonight
The guitar I used for the rhythm track is a 1989 Fender Squire II Strat...
and the solo I used a 2005 Les Paul Standard.......
I will make the solo longer...lol...
I also used a plug-in called Flux Stereo tool on the lead part...I think i might take that out..and try the solo dry....and see what happens...
Thanks again guys...as always it is appreciated...
Oh, Gorgatron....those drum loops are in the pack I sent you..... |

ah, two different guitars. yeah, that totally explains it. the difference i'm hearing is those Les Paul humbuckers. the solo gets pretty warm compared to the rhythm track. |

and them humbuckers (said with a southern accent) are warm as hell anyways.....
wait until i do a song with all my guitars in it...that would drive you right to the nut house eh??...lmao....Now i know a pickup is a pickup etc...etc...
but that damn Les Paul must have been made on a Wednesday....'cause it sure do sound pertie for a low end Les Paul....
the reason i say a Wednesday is because my theory is that this is the most productive and detailed attention to the product day of the week.....why??
think about it..
Monday-Coming out of the weekend, more than likely still hung over and bitching because it is Monday.
Tuesday- Still Bitching because you have 3 more days until the weekend.
Wednesday- Hump Day!!! this is the most exciting day of the week, the week is half gone, you are well over being hung over from the partying on the weekend and you become more focused on the job.
Thursday-Anticipation is killing you tomorrow is Friday.....why Do i keep looking at that damn clock....come on when is it going to be Friday??!!!
Friday-YEAH ITS FRIDAY!!!!......gotta get everything done for the
party/BBQ...who can i invite...mmmm is it going to rain???...etc...etc...
so as you can see...Wednesday is the best day of the week for any Product!
So I am going to bring this idea to Congress..
WE SHOULD ONLY WORK ON WEDNESDAY!!!!!!!!!!

immediate thought is: Dokken - and cool riff
second thought is maybe a bit much dist once they're all layered. We all like different sound but I've found that if you're layering sounds a cleaner signal with less distortion ends up sounding more meaty with layering, whereas a distorted signal tends to get more distorted with layering. Just a thought - try the signal a bit cleaner and overlay a few guitars and see if you like what it sounds like.
third thought is that I like the verse chord progression with the "Hold on loosely" type chord change... (sorry, I'm not what the correct name for the chord you form when sliding from a power chord (root+5th, and then droppoing the root a half step)
I only got about half downloaded and listened but I liked what I heard. |

I think alot of guitarists like the 80s. guitar kindof went out after that.
I'm a little more on the pop rock side of things though:
Van Halen, Satriani, Bon Jovi, Steve Morse, and even Warrant - I loved the Cherry Pie album, esp: Uncle Tom's Cabin, Mr. Rainmaker, Train Train (remake), and several others. |
