Beautiful Ladies and Gents.
Another review candidate for the citizens of UBW .
This wee one is called Lullaby
there is quite a lot of reverb/echo/delay in this one.
mostly because the recording equipment needed it.
secondly because i had just found the effect.
you know how trigger happy we can get.
let me know, and i shall duly repay you somehow.

Hi Paddy. Very nice guitar, well performed. Good mix. I think you went very slightly flat at the end of the vocal track. Do you have pith shifting in your studio software? I used to have terrible trouble with hitting pitch until I was told to only wear one of the headphone speakers whilst I was singing. This simple trick solved the problem for me. |

you definitivly do some great music, this is signable i think but in 10 years no music will be sold anymore, you are on the critical point, very beatiful vocals, very clear to listen, you should find a way to promote yourself a lot if not ever made.. |

Agree that the reverb levels are a bit much... While reverb helps cover up imperfections, it also can be distraction. Back when I was recording more I had a rule of thumb to go back as I was completing a mix and try to back out as much verb as I could get away with - and use as more of a garnish vs. the main course. |

wow, what a beautiful song......
now all you have to do is make a full production song and it is a hit...
IE: drums, bass and more guitar work...i do however agree with the reverb, back off a little and put a spit guard on your mic..this will help with some of the the letters, s and p in you vocals..and speaking of vocals...very good tone, you have a nice vibrato in your singing...i did enjoy the song....but i think with a little more structure this song would be awesome.....
but dont let our reviews get ya down...this song has great potential! |

i think most everything has been said. i'm really impressed with your voice, which for me that is saying quite a bit, as i tend to think too many people put vocals to their tracks who have no business doing so. i'm just kind of funny like that. i agree with the comments about the use of reverb. i'm also personally not a big fan of using a lot of effects on acoustic guitars. but, i also understand that when you're recording a song that just consists of a guitar and vocals (or in my case, two guitar parts) you end up looking for ways to make the track seem more full. i'm really curious to hear what the track would sound like with both the guitar and your voice totally clean, except for maybe a touch of reverb, or whatever, for a bit of enhancement. not sure what gear you're using and, therefore, how much sense it makes to mention this, but you can add quite a bit of fullness to a track just by working with a 4-band EQ. i'm very intimidated by EQ, and find that i have to start over about a hundred times throughout the process, but am usually happy with the end results. notice i said usually.
anyhow, the song sounds good as it is, too. keep us posted on any new tracks and good luck to you! |

thanks guys, i totally agree that the structure is vital and its something i'd love to improve on. this is i suppose a very raw version of the song, and needs that. gorgatron i just recorded it through a line in into garageband on my mac, each track separately and used some simulators afterwards to, as you say, fill out the song. i will clean it out and throw on a 4 band eq and fiddle with it. much thanks for you valuable insight! its a real encouragement!

you recorded that using garage band? that's cool. i'm always surprised by what people can do with it. i don't own a Mac, never have, and therefore have never used it. a friend of mine with a Mac uses it quite a bit and has done some really interesting stuff with it. i wasn't aware that you could record real audio with GarageBand. learn something new everyday, i guess.
have fun working with your track, man! |

yea man its pretty simple, it records real audio, but like i say just one track at a time because you use a line-in rather than a usb or firwire. its pretty sweet tho for me! probably going to upgrade to protools soon. the Mac is the machine
