The vocals,as far as pitch and structure are real good......however,
the music sounds too over mixed.....maybe it's my crappy speakers....
but overall....I liked it, i think it needs more guitar work in it...but hey thats just my biased opinion since i am a guitarist..lol
Keep doing it dude.....sounds good!!
Oh..one more thing....i think there is too much reverb on the vocals, try tightening them a bit..not so much echo...
other than that...good job!! |

this isn't a style of music that i'm very familiar with, but just having a listen, i'd have to agree with Gunner regarding the mix. there are definitely some frequencies that are fighting with each other. i also noticed some peaking at the very beginning. there's not whole lot of separation of sounds which sometimes causes some phase canceling. the vocals are a little too up front in the mix, while a lot of the lower tones and sub-tones are missing in the mix, which leaves it a little flat.
i'd love to have a listen to a new mix. it seems like there's a lot going on in the track, but it just kind of gets swallowed up in the mix. it sounds like a great starting point for a good mix, though. the instrumentation seems solid from what i can tell, and the vocals as well. good luck and let us know if you produce a new mix! |

thanks for the input! i will work on a remix, and try again, any tips on getting more separation in my tracks? i believe that song has about 10 or 12 tracks on it....i agree with the muddiness.... it seems to be a very fine line between muddy, and tinney.... ya know....again thanks for the input.... |

i struggle with the same issue all the time with mixed results. what i usually try to do is mix tracks with similar tones and frequencies as a group, or submixes, and then tweak the main mix towards the end. the only tip i can give is just to use panning and the EQ on whatever board (real or virtual) you're using to mix. like if i'm mixing some high trumpets and some bells, as an example, i would set one a little more to the left and the other a little more to the right, and then i'd trim some of the high off of one and maybe add to the other. just stuff like that. it can get really tedious, too. also keep in mind that a lot depends on how you've recorded the track (analog or digital) and what you're using to mix. i'm all digital and mostly use Reason 4.0 for sequencing and mixing. i'm very much a novice myself. lol
hopefully PPB or Gunner will stop back by. they have a lot more experience with this sort of thing. if they don't post here again, maybe start another thread in one of the other forums to ask for tips. good luck and keep us posted! |

Enjoyed this one a lot. OK, so the mix wasn't 100%. The composition and structure of this song is very interesting. It's a bit like this and slightly like that but mostly original, refreshing and "out of the box". Nice one. |

edgy and experimental. i like it man. legendary, got a real anthem feel to it. can totally see a professional edit of it being the soundtrack to the next 'dark night' movie.
and that's not blowing smoke up you know where.
i bet others would agree.

this came from the planet dream, what an intro...this is my favorite part of your work as i'm not a metal or hardrock fan at all...however what i listened is a good record (just some overdrive or saturation bit ² much)
cheers...keep it UP ! lol |

I have a good tutorial for mixing and mastering tracks...i just have to find it, i just got back into town...so give me a day or so and I will post it here in your thread...it is pretty in depth as far what freqs each instrument should be recorded at and so forth...and some suggestions where to put some instruments, IE: bass 30% left drums center etc..etc...
also has a breakdown for certain instruments in the stereo field....
will post it soon!!
I did however forget to mention, that I liked the structure of the song, vocals and musicianship!! |
