Hi all,

any suggestions as to what the best bitrate to use for the Lofi songs? Something that's the best balance of sound/playability for those who can't stream hifi?

thanks, smili

Hi Smili,

Best balance for those who can't stream Hi Fi is 32 Kbps...it still confortable for dial up users and give more nuances than 24!

On the other side ya have a lo fi convertor in your page manager that will convert to 16Khz / 24 Kbps automatically! ( left block bottom page)

peace

thanks Alec,

I was listening to some lofi streams and there's quite an upgrade in quality going from 24 to 96 or 128. It's amazing to me that an mp3 with 1/10th of the data of a 40 meg wav can still sound so much like the original.

Hi Smili,

How did you get from 24 to 96 to 128?

Is there a place here to do this ? I've noticed a big difference in some lofi as well.

I was using a program called dbPowerAmp (www.download.com) and just testing file resolutions to see what differences I could hear. I was taking an initial wav file and converting at 24Kbps, 32Kbps, on up.

So we need to separately upload in lo-fi rather than use the converting option for our songs to be at the higher rate? Here's me thinking everyone uses lo-fi convert and somewhere at this site, it can be upgraded. Me thinks a membership upgrade might be in order
