there are several products out there that producers that make tracks like that could be using. Albeton could surely be one of them. often they will be using a mix of different products like: Logic Studio. Reason, and something like BFD 2. then they are probably using mastering plugins as well. if you're looking to keep it really simple, i'd recommend something like Reason or Albeton. i currently use Reason and personally prefer it to Albeton. Reason is easier for me, but it's got an interface that i fell is geared towards the average musician. it's also a virtual rack unit, so it's different from Albeton in many ways. i thought Albeton was pretty good, but it was kind of difficult for me to use.
good luck. |

Gorgatron,
I'm considering getting Ableton Live right now. My main instrument is guitar, and I particularly like what I saw in a demo for how easy it was to build loops layers with Ableton.
I was considering getting an old version of Reason 3.0 just to play around on for synthy stuff, but I wasn't seeing as something for working with audio tracks.
Based on what you know: As primarily a guitarist, could I work with Reason with audio tracks pretty well, or is it Ableton the way to go. |

hey man! i'll send you a detailed PM after a while. i've already started it, but it's taking me longer than i thought and i've got to go clean out some mold that built up due to a busted pipe left unattended in the house my wife and i just recently purchased. a plumber is perhaps coming by tomorrow to sort it out and i don't want them to be nervous about it. it's not the bad kind but it's been there a while and needs to be taken care of.
look for it sometime tomorrow morning. you'll probably be in bed by the time i get back to send it.
take it easy. |

I had a water heater explode on me a couple months back and noticed it after I'd been out of town for a while ... messy. expensive repairs, and no running water for a while... not fun. lived in a hotel for several days.
good luck with repairs... |

that's painful!!! we haven't moved in yet, so we're not inconvenienced in that way. plus, the utilities were turned off when it happened. of course it was the lack of heat in the very cold winter that caused the problem. i couldn't believe the people hadn't winterized it, since they had moved into a 2nd house they had either built or something bigger they had purchased. they couldn't afford 2 house payments and let this one go...literally. actually, it's not that bad. a little work and some updates here and there and it will be all fine.
sorry to hear about your deal. that's almost the worst nightmare of any homeowner for sure. right behind fire and/or natural disaster. |
