paypal has had some serious issues lately. not sure what exactly you have experienced, but my problems entailed my subscription payments failing and other similar sorts of havoc. i spent about an hour total on the phone with them and they first told me that there were some problems with some accounts, mine was put on a list and supposedly fixed. i called again because a payment failed and they said that they could find no problems. the failed payments were not showing up on my account history, i kept getting generated emails, though. i finally was told that i needed to cancel and resubscribe. they were very unsympathetic.
on another site where i have a subscription, they were evidently contacted by paypal that their subscribers were being affected by some glitch...i'm editing out the site name, but here's what they posted:
"Beginning on Sunday, May 25th, PayPal has admitted to having several problems with recurring subscription payments. After spending over 2 hours on the phone with PayPal's Business Service Technical Support, they state that they are aware that email notification to merchants is not being sent; that subscription details are not being added to payment details on merchant accounts overviews; and that IPN information (Instant Payment Notification) is not being sent to merchants' websites. PayPal stated that they have added [insert site name here] to their (rather large) support ticket and are working on the problem. What This Means To You: If your account expires but you have paid your account, simply email us at support@iblahblah.com with a copy of your receipt and the date it was paid. As most of you know, our Support Department is super quick in handling your emails."
so, it seems that UBW and it's subscribers might need to be added to the list. of course when i contacted these people from that site when this happened to me, they were also very unsympathetic. i hate it when i send an email to tech support and all they do is send an email of all the obvious reasons something fails or doesn't work...and the reason you contact them is because you know this stuff and some fix they have isn't working or it's an uncommon problem. instead, they waste your time stating the obvious. sorry, had to vent.
one of my subscriptions here failed twice and my account was downgraded before i was able to cancel and renew the subscription, which was what i had to do in the end as mentioned above. minusme had all the data from my page, so as soon as i renewed, everything went back to normal. this might be what you'll need to do in the end as well, and contact paypal to tell them that you need to be added to this long list.
i hope this helps you and everyone else on the site that might be, or have been, affected by this glitch. if i find some more info about it, i'll post it here. good luck and sorry for writing a whole book on the subject.

hello everyone! not sure if anyone else has had anymore problems, but i had another subscription failure. the last one happened late in the month last month and the account that just now failed hadn't been affected.
so, if you have the problem, please post something here so that it's known if this is something that just a few of us have had happen to us, or if it's a bigger problem. at the end of the day, all you have to do is cancel and then renew. it's a pain but it works. of course i have no idea if the same subscription that failed last month will do so again this month. if that's the case, it would be cool if someone from UBW would call paypal. i'm sure as a bigger customer they will be a little more active in sorting out the problem. another site where i have a subscription had the problem and pretty much everyone was affected, which doesn't seem to be the case here; otherwise i'm sure people would have been complaining.
peace. |

The PayPal issue isn't related to the site so far as I can tell. It's an issue on the PayPal side. |

oh, i know. it was the same with the other site i mentioned. the reason they got involved was because a ton of their patrons were being affected. you're right, it's all paypal. my point was if there are a lot of us from the site that have had the issue (meaning several of your customers are repeatedly affected) they might respond to the proprietor of a business than joe shmo. believe me, i spent like 45 min or more total on the phone trying to convince them that there even was a problem. it wasn't until i hit them at every angle that they admitted that there was a problem on THEIR side.
evidently, though, there have only been a few of us affected, so we'll just need to cancel, then renew, our current subscriptions. if you read the statement from the other site, they even say the only reason they got involved was that it was happening to pretty much every one of their customers. they were probably tired of people like me sending them emails saying...'i've got money but paypal says i don't, but i've checked my accounts and they are all fine...what the hell is going on?!?!?!' which i did like 5 or 6 times within a span of about 2-3 days. lol it's a bigger site...not a music site either...they stream TV shows online and it costs almost as much as cable...so i get a lot more bent out of shape when i can't access a service that costs me $20/mo and can be a pain in the ass with the way they have it all set up. for UBW, it's a much simpler solution. i had just hoped that it would have all been resolved at this point.
so, it looks like Mittens and i are the only two that have been affected. good for the rest of you! |
