Omg! i saw Rachel McGoye perform live the other night and I must say that it was the best acoustic performance I've ever seen, no joke!!!! My boyfriend even liked it and he doesn't even listen to music like that, lol! I just love her music!! If you haven't heard of her you just gotta check her out! She's definitely my new favorite artist!

it's not anything special. she plays very simple songs and her voice sounds a little like Norah Jones, so there's nothing original about her either. it's about the lowest common denominator when it comes to music, so that also says a lot about what your recommendation is worth. thanks for taking the time to waste space here in the acoustic forum. 
this post doesn't even belong here. it's an advertisement for another crap artist, so next time stick it in the 'advertisements & off-site promotions' forum where it belongs.  |

wow, so much anger definitely coming from you, guess you don't appreciate good music that good musicians work hard on. Are you an artist yourself? I sure don't think so. I said her live performance rocked, you obviously didn't see her live so you don't know. so BLAH You! |

actually, i'm an artist, and you can watch live cuts on her myspace and youtube. the acoustic performance can be heard in her recordings as well. performance + production = studio track. i wouldn't say she plays badly, but it's nothing to write home about. and i'm not speaking strictly about her guitar playing. the show itself is fine. it's the kind of rock/pop show one might expect from a mainstream artist. no bad, but nothing special. i do think it is the lowest common denominator and i think it's crap, and I KNOW it's in the wrong forum, which is where a lot of the hostility is coming from. 
as far as having a good taste in music...hmm, let's see. 1st, that's subjective, but i have about 1500 albums, about which are rare and sought after by people who listen to what is very much considered to be...you guessed it, good music. this lady would not fall into that category. this is bubble gum, nothing that has to be digested. good music is something you necessarily like either. that's a misconception. good music is like fine wine or fine cheese...it's something you you can take in, objectively dissect, and compare the components to other great works throughout the ages. it doesn't necessarily have to be liked, although it usually is by at least music snobs.
i say it's crap because it's just some plastic that will be discarded after a few years at best. cream doesn't always rise to the top, you know. sometimes it does, but it's more and more rare to see it happen. happy that you enjoy it but it's way bland, no sophistication. i'm sure she's talented enough to do better, but she's not pushing her limits as an artist. she's trying to succeed at a business. these are, unfortunately, and often, two completely different things.
but to end this for good, we'll make a deal: stop posting advertisements for other artists who aren't on Unsigned Band Web in forums they don't belong (just read the rules, if you have trouble figuring it out), and i'll leave both you and your featured artist well alone.

seriously though, i see a lot of messages posted like this... '' i just love 'generic name' 's new song... and cant help but wonder if people who work at PR centres and the like are the culprits for posting this crap all the time..lol.. i mean no 'normal' person would actually search out an unsigned website to randomly post about how much they love 'generic name' would they??? |

most certainly not! and if you're a fan going all over the internet looking for forums to post this kind of stuff, you need to find something better to do with your nights.
