I've started a new band entitled Teenagers at Play. We're primarily 13 and 14-year-olds, and we're doing pretty well instrumentally. We have a drummer, an acoustic/rhythmic guitarist and backup singer, electric/backup vocalist, bass/backup vocalist, and me, a keyboard/vocalist. I guess I sort of front the band, but I don't keep that in my mind set. My problem is that my voice hasn't quite cracked yet. I'm not like, kiddy sounding, but its a bit high. I'm not going to force my voice to sound different, because that hasn't worked. Ever. Advice on how to handle this situation? |

I grew up in the 80s, and a high voice was never a problem Think Bon Jovi , Motley Crue, others... Not exactly deep baritones there. It'll all be good. |

All I'd say is that vocal style, especially when performing live, is about confidence just as much as sound. The world is full of great vocalists who have stupid sounding voices, some are high, some are low, some sound like they've smoked a few million too many fags, but if you can write a good song and sing like you're doing your thing people will always respond to that. I know it's doubly hard to not care what everybody else thinks when you're 13, so that's you're real hurdle... |

can't remember what the original poster was on about, but that's perhaps the best pic of McGowan i've ever seen. i mean, it totally sums him up. just this frozen moment in time. brilliant!!!!!! it just shows you, if you put your mind to it, you truly can achieve anything. |
