For recording my music I use a Zoomshare MRS802. It's an 8 track stand alone unit which produces pretty good quality results. It has heaps of pre and post FXs plus a really good mastering section. So you can do everything right up to a finished master CD.
Everything is multitracked so I only need to use one mike. It's a Mann M21 - a Neumann 87 clone for about 1/4 the price.
Up till now I used a Tascam portastudio with 2 PZM mikes for nature sounds recording but in the future for my soundscape project it will be my Sony Minidisc Recorder (which have become really cheap since the advent of iPods).
I have several vintage analog and digital units (eg a Roland MC202 analog synth) for getting those unusual sounds that are sometimes required.

Plans for 2007

This year I plan to complete several recording projects and of course post some of the finished songs.
My brother and I are researching songs and tunes of Australian "Bush" music and plan to record about 30 using guitar, mandolin, accordion and banjo as the principal instruments.
I'm currently writing songs for a Chicago blues type album which will feature my (very rusty) electric guitar skills.
And songs I wrote for a CD by the band "Pat Softly" (sort of jazzy folkie stuff) don't look like being recorded by the band any time soon {due to time and distance constraints) so I'm going to do a solo version.
