The music world has lost another talented soul. Paulette of local San Diego band THE ABUSE was murdered in her apartment early yesterday morning. Her charismatic stage presence and influence on the local scene will not be forgotten. Be sure to visit www.theabuse.com for information on upcoming concerts to celebrate her life.

Carnal Beauty

“It's not enough. I need more. Nothing seems to satisfy. I don't want it. I just need it. To feel...to breathe...to know I'm alive."
-Maynard James Keenan/Tool
Born Tonight tears through the flesh of each of their songs with steel stringed teeth, exposing the beautiful vulnerability of each verse with treacherous brutality and cunning strength. A wall of sound permeates the air like a melodic thunder, leaving the ashes of a euphonious memoranda to settle with only the lingering, solitary scream from the depths of one man’s wounded soul as remains. He is the frontman, Jay Two, a man with lungs of fire and a penetrating gaze. The band bleeds forth their hearts with each hymn, pledging true faith to the symphonies they create. This music IS their life’s blood. It is this dedication and reverence that reveals itself when each deafening chorus reaches its climactic finish. Nothing is left but a barren wasteland of blistered fingers, bloody vocal chords and pounding pulses. Sweat and tears cauterize the wound that is left slashed open at each show, leaving a chilling yet familiar memory for all that attend. Passion and guts are what prevail in this band long after the music has stopped. Ultimately this is what will lead them to unsurpassed glory. -Christine Erice/SDMusicMatters

Deftonesworld.com Review

"Personally I'm pretty sick of all the music scene right now. Too much pop on the radio, too much stripes and strokes on the TV. I've discovered Born Tonight while I was searching for something new, or at least different. And that's what they are, different and fresh. I bet they... ...will hit the top. "Salvation to Some" is smart and well performed but it's not hard rock or heavy metal. Hardcore, Emo, Rock and so much melody is how I can define Born Tonight. It's pretty hard to categorize bands nowadays. It reminds me more of Dredg. The good news is: I love Dredg. So if someone sounds as good as Dredg, that means that you should check them out.

"Salvation to Some" is a mixture of songs that reaches a diverse level of how to build songs, not the normal verse/chorus/verse/chorus...but something more than that. The guitar riffs in the beggining of almost every song send a chill running down the spine of the listener. The vocals and the rest of the instruments fit together so for what I could see, I can say that they are incredibly talented." -Nuno Rolinho/Deftonesworld.com
