. . . I kept turning on the radio and turning it off. It seems the 80's and 90's truly had died with regards to Pop music. Melodic grooves with well written vocals were a vanishing breed. This album was my first experiment to revive that genre. I believe I had great inspiration, but have just scratched the surface.

Fishboisfo came about as a screen name initially. It had changed with every city I lived in as the airport codes changed: Fishboidfw, Fishboisdf, Fishboinyc. Being piscean, and a much younger male at the time of it's inception -- it seemed to work well for me and my entire digital life.

"Schooled Beneath the Surface" was a metaphor I latched onto. It is a reference to some of the more painful experiences that the soul learns even when the mind or body don't quite catch on. Coming to terms with the death of friends, or that there are sinister individuals on the planet, or that just seeing something rarely means you understand it -- "Schooled Beneath the Surface" represents what you can do with the lessons once you've paid attention to them.

Please visit my website for photos, new unreleased music, and travel tips and assistance on getting to our beautiful home of San Francisco.

"The Bubble Machine" is my second album. It will debut in November. There are tracks that I may put on it after I release a few of them here for input. There are others that I have not released to the world yet. I want to, but have been told to hold off. It is, in my opinion, much more me. More genuine, more reflective. A bit darker and unexpected.

I live in San Francisco. Late, on a very cold and clear July night, I had just gotten off work. Parking on Friday night is always difficult. I had to park way up at the top of Market Street and walk home into the Castro. The fog was just starting to wash over the bright city lights and clipping the top of the Bay Bridge. A fugue of awe and inspiration. This is what I saw and how I heard it.
