b.e_cooling is a solo artist from Somerset who moved to the UK from Toronto, Canada in 1982. He settled in Bristol and was the singer/rhythm guitarist in a couple of bands during the mid-80s: namely, Radio 5ive and Tak!Tak!Tak! (the latter of which was reviewed in Venue magazine and appeared on BBC local radio). The rest of the time was spent busking and playing solo in local pubs and restaurants both in the UK and in Germany.
Over the past 10 years, b.e_cooling has been recording music in a variety of genres and has continued performing his acoustic material in small local venues around the South-West of England. His main ambition at the moment is simply to make his music known to a wider audience (who can then make up their own minds!).
b.e_cooling' lyrics are often highly political (or else down-right personal) and most people who listen to them appreciate the cheeky-seriousness. b.e_cooling doesn't try to waste your time! His musical is all original though he does occasionally have other musicians join him for recording purposes.
His musical influences are wide and varied, ranging from reggae to raga, classical to jazz, ambient to folk, rock to ............well, wherever. Favourite bands span 40 years or more and include: the Beatles, the Who, Jimi Hendrix, the Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band, the Doors, David Bowie, Talking Heads, Can, PIL, Joy Division, Bob Marley, The Specials, Lou Reed, Blur, Gomez, Fat Boy Slim, Windows Clack..........and just about anything else from Gregorian chant to Wes Montgomery. As far as a 'genre' goes, b.e_cooling would prefer a new category called "A-Z".
So - why not give him a listen.
