clay jacobs - "What You Need"
Seventeen and full of life, thought I knew it all
Dad came in the kitchen one early morning in the fall
He said son we need to talk about the road you’re headed down
Cause you know me an momma really love you
And want to see you stand on solid ground
I said I don’t need you to tell me how life is anymore
He said I know son you think you don’t
But I’ll tell you one more thing before you close the door

What you need is a Savior, what you need is a friend
What you need is someone to love you and grace that never ends
What you need is a healer for your life that’s torn apart
What you need, son, what you need, is Jesus in your heart

Ten miles outside of town, I knew that he was right
I turned around and headed home, that’s when I saw those flashing lights
I recognized the car, dad had had since I was three
They told me he was driving way too fast and he was coming after me
The day we laid him in the ground, I cried I just don’t understand
But it started to come clearer, when the preacher took me by the hand

And this is what he said

What you need is a Savior, what you need is a friend
What you need is someone to love you and grace that never ends
What you need is a healer for your life that’s torn apart
What you need, son, what you need, is Jesus in your heart
