An unexpected phone call from Stenosis to the previous members of Slynt after their downfall due to drugs and betrayal of fellow members led to One Cut Closer, rising from the ashes of bands that couldn't do what it takes to be successful.

Instantly, we clicked and our songwriting process tends to be so much more rigorous than previous engagements for all members. I think the main thing that sets us apart is the switching of sounds and rhythms. If the music doesn't keep moving unexpectedly, then the listener is bored and so are we.

Our influences range from heavier bands such as In Flames, Bleed the Sky, and Killswitch Engage to slightly mellower bands such as Five Bolt Main, Switchfoot, and Blindside. We also love a LOT of bands that fall in between such as Dry Kill Logic, Reveille, 40 Below Summer, and Ill Nino.
