<itunes:summary>Daap (in Norwegian meaning "baptism") plays old, Nordic hymns and folk music (Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian) which is rearranged and made into rock music. It is mixed with elements inspired by rock of the 70s and Congolesian rhythms and songs. The instruments are an old pump organ, a Hammond organ, analog synthesizer, African drum, percussion, guitars and vocals. Daap plays on both acoustic and electric concerts.<br />
<br />
The musicians come from a small town in Eastern Finnmark, Arctic Norway, called Vadsø. This town has throughout the history been populated by the indigenous people, the Saami, settled by Norwegians, visited by Russian traders and immigrated by Finnish farmers. This has all made a big influence on the culture in Vadsø. Also, the religious movement of Lästadius made an important impact on the people. Today, over 50 different nationalities and cultures all over the world are represented in the town. Both the history and the culture today is what Daap wants to reflect in their music.<br />
