RECEIVER
RECEIVER Bio:

Dubbed Indie Sensation by Canadas Chart Magazine, auteur Kym Brown has enjoyed much success back over the Atlantic with her dazzling brand of space oddity synth-pop. Her debut independent release, Pygmalion (Todd Simko) remained in the top 10 of HMV indie retail in Vancouver for five months following its release, earning airplay across the US, Canada (CBC) and in Europe as well as having video rotation on Much Music Canadas MTV. Simply stunning onstage, Kyms eye-catching performances have taken her to CBGBs in NYC, The Spitz in London, and also to the Molson Rocks Festival supporting Nickelback on Canada Day. It was during her visit to England that she hit upon the idea of collaboration.

Best of friends from the tender age of four years old. Essex instrumentalists Steven Wright, James Fenneberg, Michael Cowdroy and Steve Dixson formed their first band at 17. Playing mainly Nirvana-esque grunge, the boys played the inaugural Thurrock Music Festival, as well as featuring on Essex Radio before setting on a four-year hiatus to attend university, party, and buy cars. It worked. In 2004 they reformed with a thicker, more groove-ridden sound resembling that of US rockers Kyuss and Fu Manchu but with a Brit-twist reminiscent of Franz Ferdinand.

Forged out of a small ad placed in a three times weekly newspaper chock full of ads from baby items to bikes. The boys filled the last slot of an exhaustive day of auditioning - Kym was originally only looking for a rhythm section - before launching into a demonstration of musical salutation that persuaded Brown to change her musical direction and return to her rock roots at just the right time.
