9xdead Bio: Meet The Dead With a history spanning over a decade and a sound spanning genre's 9xDead explore the depths of depravity inherent in the human soul and force the listener confront and embrace their own inner daemons. 9xDead is musical mirror to the evil in the blackened hearts of the musicians within like seeds of spite in beds of filthy meat. The band is has always been more than the sum of its parts, and continues to evolve and mutate a malignant disease that hopes to infect the largely barren music scene. 9xDead sound is a wasteland of fury and festering malice played out on mocking vocals, razor sharp guitars, menacingly driven by absinthe soaked bass and brutal pounding drums. With a revitalised 9xDead, Gary Appleby, the mainstay and visionary behind the band, sees the opportunity to further develop the band as a defining force within 'Dark Rock' - a term he uses to lift the band above the wannabe's. After false stops and starts, Gary and the band see 2009 as the right time for 9xDead become successful in their own style and direction safe from imitators. History and Beginnings The Birth of a Monster "I beheld the wretch - the miserable monster whom I had create..." 1998 - Gary, Chris and Paul formed the basis of 9xDead however the band split later that year due to personal issues. The First Resurrection "Listen to them - children of the night. What sweet music they make" 1999 - Gary and Chris decided to reform 9xdead with the help of Richard King - Guitar and Jenny Jarman - Vocals they played 1 show with this line-up in the Autumn of 1999. 2000 - Owen joined who was to be 2nd guitarist but who ended up singing and being lead guitarist, 9xDead managed a handful of shows as a three piece, then in the Autumn they enlisted the services of Rachel to come in and provide 2nd guitar. 2001 - Another line-up change came when Owen went awol. Paul rejoined in August of 2001, but had to leave the band late 2001, due to a brain tumour. Chris decided to quit after Christmas. 2002 - Owen rejoined in January and Rachel then went onto to fill the vacant Bass slot. 2003 - 9xDead released a CD 'Dead But Dying' through Valiant Death Records USA in June. 2004 - 9xDead go to a four piece with the addition of Gavin Thomas, who never got to gig stage, nothing was ever heard of him again. 2005 - After a relatively stable couple of years Owen decided to leave at the end of August 2005 to concentrate on a covers band Incoming guitarist Adam Rykala took over the axeman slot and Dafydd Dearson took over vocal duties early September. 2006 - James Taylor joined as 2nd guitarist. 9xDead recorded the album "Mortalitas" it was a self release and is currently still available on a few download sites it is featured on itunes among others. Death I shall die, and what I now feel be no longer felt. Soon these burning miseries will be extinct. I shall ascend my funeral pile triumphantly and exult in the agony of the torturing flames 2007 - Due to a few factors 2007 saw the split of 9xDead. Re- Resurrected I ought to be thy Adam; but I am rather the fallen angel 2008 - Gary kept in touch with Adam and Dafydd and a hit or miss rehearsal ended in the resurrection of 9xDead, it was as though they had never split then after a brief search Huw Price filled the vacant bassist position. Unfortunately this resurrected classic line up was not to last, Adam and Daf once again departed 9xDead in November. New Beginnings "It became a thing such as even Dante could not have conceived...." 2009 - Unwilling to let the monster die, Gary has once again proven to be Dark Metals ultimate survivor and 9xDead to be both the forerunner and Savior of Dark Metal, forging ahead with the resurrected 'Dead' Gary turned to former 9xDead guitarist James Taylor, new bassist Miff Guildford and New Vocalist Donna M to build on and exceed the 'Dead's former glory's. 9xDead will be hitting a stage near you, be afraid, beware... be there! We class ourselves as Dark Rock, we basically mix Goth, Punk & Metal. |
