Manuela Barile Music at unsignedbandweb.com Manuela Barile Manuela Barile is an italian vocal artist and an interdisciplinary performer. Her vocal research and artistic compositions explore the voice in all its possible musical and spoken expressions, employing Western and Oriental vocal techniques, as well as those of her invention, including sounds that cover a four-octave range without recourse to any electronic manipulations. Her vocal research is also accompanied by a gestural, theatrical and poetic component, creating a variety of moods and powerful emotions that that go from contemplative, intimate and dramatic to hilarious comedy seasoned by a pinch of madness. Her main performances in solo are: IN_CANTO (a concert-performance and a surreal cabaret for solo voice where the artist explores her voice in all its possible expressions) and TO BE (a work in progress that summarizes the fundamental stages of Manuelas work and life where body art, private photos, spontanueus writing and drawing, video are combined togheter with her acrobatic vocal sounds). Since 1997 onwards she dedicated herself to the study of both western and eastern music becoming student to acclaimed teachers of international fame such as Tran Quang Hai and Amelia Cuni. She has also studied drama at ITC San Lazzaro, Bologna, and has taken part in many free improvisation workshops with Joelle Leandre, Barre Philips, Tristan Honsinger, Phil Minton, and Maggie Nicols. Manuela Barile has performed with such distinguished musicians as Gianni Lenoci, Mario Volpe, Amy Denio, Phil Minton, Joelle Leandre, Tristan Honsinger, Marcello Magliocchi, Claudio Parodi, Bassesfere, etc. She always works with artists, dancers, actors, poets and videomakers from all over the worlds to create interdisciplinary events. Manuela is currently collaborating with Mario Volpe, Gianni Lenoci and the artistic collective Vel Net ( www.vel-net.com ) to put forth various musical projects and performances. She also offers workshops in creative vocals in various schools and cultural centers throughout Italy.
