Is there a story behind the name?

I played in a three piece band called All Those Opposed with some close friends, so it seemed like a natural progression from All Those to just One. It also speaks to my opposition of repition in music. I like freshness. New music, when its fresh and original - is like taking a deep breath after a long and tough day at work.
How do you approach writing your music?

My tunes are specifically designed to soothe you without putting you to sleep. I like to blend together what I love. I love classic rock, soul, motown, blues, funk, and progressive music. But then there's my metal side who loves slipknot and mudvayne...so its all about balancing the things I love about all of them into a collage of sexy. I especially enjoy electronica. So its always my main focus, before adding additional layers to a song.

As a do it yourself musician, how do you build a fan base?

Im trying to build an organic fan base of people who truly love my music. The new music industry change is a model I have been waiting to see for quite some time. This gives people with real talent, but limited means a chance to get their sound heard and embraced. Its opening up a whole new world of music that we all might never have had the fortune to hear. I personally HOPE EVERYONE pirates my music and sends it around the globe.
What bands truly influence you?

This is where I could randomly name all kinds of popular acts, but here are some you may not have had the chance to hear: Abandoned Pools, Porcupine Tree, Fresh Body Shop, Another Cynthia, Criteria, Spoon, Pinback, Massive Attack and the list goes on and on...

Opposed 1 is the solo project of Matt Jameson. The music is created with a minimalistic approach using only a single sequencer and keyborad controller. Matt writes, mixes, and produces his own music - including mastering the tracks in his home sutdio.



Opposed1 is the solo “one man band” project of Oregon based multi-instrumental Matt Jameson.

‘A New Direction’ consists of nine original songs, each meant to simultaneously showcase Matt's work as a guitarist, pianist, percussionist, composer and vocalist. The project is based upon a vintage sound reminiscent of late 60’s that manages to come through sounding fresh and modern when blended with electronica. "My goal is to make music addictive enough to be considered a controlled substance”
