Fighter Who Believes - Blues

When it came to the blues, Stevie Ray Vaughn influenced me the most. His heavy rhythms and big grooves reeled me in. When I wrote blues tunes, they always seemed to have a hint of pop, more so in the chorus. I also wondered why blues music couldn't lean on a chorus big enough to hang you hat on without taking it out of its element.

This song speaks about how drugs and other addictions have taken down so many great people. The song calls on a faith thats strong enough to keep our lives on the rails. I had SRV in mind when I wrote this. Such a major tragedy. Stevie Ray finally frees himself from drugs and alcohol, to be so quickly taken from us by a tragic accident.

Coffee Cup - Country Pop

I really like the lap steel solo by Dan Dugmore in this song. Gives it a real roots flavor even though the chorus leans towards pop. I always seem to blend the musical enfluences I had growing up into my songs. Many times I will write a song that that has strong connections to blues, roots , folk and pop.

What Are We Here For - Rock

This song started out as just an acoustic number with harmonica. It seemed to breathe easily in this format. We decided to track it with the band to see what kind life it would have. We jammed this song full out and it is live off the floor. Much like it would be on a live show. The lyrics speak of reflecting on our own individual purpose in life while shinning some light on the loneliness and struggle souls go through.
