Wonderlust_uk Bio:

Wonderlust are a 4 - piece band from Hertfordshire who over the last year have tailored their Mod influences into a cocktail of 60's style melodies and rock n roll guitar playing, backed up with strong rhythm from a motown inspired bass player and chest-rattling drums.

Danny and Aaron met at Christmas time in 2010 and after a quick chat and exchange of numbers, decided that they should have a jam and see if each others ideas worked together.
After numerous friday nights indoors writing, recording ideas and finishing of old tunes that they both had laying around, Wonderlust was born.

" We spent about two months of friday nights just learning each others songs and adding bits to them. I think we wrote Dusty town in this period, which came about with a riff that Aaron played over and over again until words came to it."

With enough tunes under their belts, Danny and Aaron took to the open mic nights of St Albans and the surrounding area where they tweaked the songs for over 4 months.
The band started to come together when Aaron and Danny decided that they should think about taking it to the next level. Danny met Tom through Tom's previous band who playing motown inspired 60's pop style tunes, and the boys went to work learning the songs as a three piece.

" I think this was important for us, because we done the ground work before we thought about getting a drummer. The friday sessions made us tight as a three peice, and when we did get round to finding the right drummer, it became easier for him as we all knew the songs."

Neville and Aaron have been friends since childhood, and after trying a few other drummers, Aaron suggested him to the others. It took one friday night in a practice room for the band to become complete.

The band recorded thier first demo EP in mid January 2011 entitled "the Mobius Strip" and limited the first batch to 100 copies for people that regularly attending gigs and supported the band from the start.

After 8 months as a full band, and numerous local gigs in the hertfordshire area and over London, Wonderlust are heading to the festivals this summer to play the Isle of Wight.

"... these guys will hold the soundtracks to your summers."

The Mobius Strip review:

Wonderlust – The Möbius Strip

Less than a year old, yet the St Albans-based four-piece have notched up some plum gigs. All pretty much on the strength of their self released debut CD The Möbius Strip, a five track offering that paints a picture with sound of where they’re at and where they’re coming from.

Catharsis is an in your face laddish anthem, the multilayered guitars and incessant unrelenting rhythm conjure up images of OCS, influences equally shine through on the blistering New Boy with a nod to The Jam and The Chords. Real contender for debut single proper has to be 6 O’Clock, served up in a less frenetic pace than the two predecessors, it shows a gentler side to Wonderlust’s talents. Now You’re Mine brings another aspect to the fore, with a hint of White Album era Beatles and early Lennon solo material.

Concluding the EP comes Dreammaker an epic number that builds and builds, tailor made for huge stadium shows. Granted their influences are there, yet Wonderlust definitely put their own slant on all their songs. With an eye on the past but forward-looking Wonderlust are one to keep both an eye and an ear open for. www.myspace.com/wearewonderlust
