Erik Jurado Bio:

In December 2009 I started writing and performing my own original songs that include guitar, bass, drums and vocals. I had never played in a band OR played bass OR played drums OR sing OR record and mix... but it was about damn time I started!

"COPY WHATEVER YOU LIKE - GIVE IT TO WHOEVER YOU WANT! EVERYONE IS BEAUTIFUL AND FREE, BABY... OH, AND THE COLORS ARE WILD! "
- Lars Ulrich on his "hippy" medication.

I feel the same way, baby!

If you give your comments, I thank you for your time and your thoughts

The words to "What Happened, Son?" paraphrase the poem written by my friend April about the tragic suicide of her son. She compiled as much information about the incident as she could from notes, myspace site, and crime scene... then pieced together the info that led to his final act and finally wrote the words through his eyes.

"My beautiful son, age 19, committed suicide 11/22/08. I'm posting his suicide note & other notes in the hopes this may help someone else. If you're in the depths of despair, please tell someone, ANYONE. There is help! 1-800-SUICIDE." - April Kubachka

This is a re-recording of the song "Drowning."

Drowning was my first attempt at recording and I couldn't help myself from re-recording the song using the tips I had received in the Reviews Forum. The songs were recorded about 2 to 3 weeks apart, but it sounds as though they are about 50 weeks apart!

(Thanks again for the tips Gunner!)

DID DR. PHIL SING FOR A METAL BAND BACK IN THE 80's???

I did this song in the spirit of having fun... which included pretending I was a kick-azz guitarist and as the singer, I had the band catering to my every whim WHILE dishing out useful advice... Dr. Phil style!

I crack up when I hear it, cause each part I play I think I'm SOOOO COOOL!

This is the same recording as the "Classic Rock" version listed below. This version is mixed using only the vocal and acoustic guitar tracks. I thought it sounded pretty cool, so I uploaded it.

I used this song to set many of the levels for each instrument. I still don't know what levels to set the instruments!

Let me know what you think.

SPECIAL GUEST VOCALIST: POOCH (AKA MICHELLE JURADO)

My younger sister Michelle, (AKA Pooch,) came by on Christmas day and wanted to lay a vocal track, so we did this "fun" exchange which I titled, "Cruisin' With Pooch."

This is the very first song I wrote and recorded.

Reflections of drinking binges and isolation.

This was originally an acoustic piece I would play when I couldn't sleep - usually around 4 or 5 in the morning... I thought of it as my "Morning Jam." When I recorded it I wanted it to have that "early morning" feeling... you know;
slow, stretching, wiping the sleep out of your eyes...
get a little momentum - start preparing for the day...
eventually building into that burst that gets you out the door to connect with others.

Ocho was recorded as a reaction to hearing so many of my "mellow" acoustic songs... I needed to go off!!!
