jacksfamily Bio:

Jacksfamily formed in the summer of 2002 when songwriters Kelly Jones and Jean-Paul De-Havilland met in a bar, with a mutual interest in heavy rock music they became inspired to collaborate on a project that would blend superb musicianship with a harder more sinister edge. Kelly is a classically trained violinist who had studied at London’s prestigious Trinity College of Music, while Jean-Paul had honed his guitar skills playing in a variety of rock bands since the age of 15.

Finding other musicians to realise such a project however was to prove more difficult, spanning 18 months and many hundreds of miles of travel. They lived in various parts of Essex,
London, and the West Country before finally discovering the extraordinarily talented rhythm section of Nicholas J Spall (drums), later joined by Richard Potter (bass), after years playing in rock, jazz and metal bands intensively touring across the uk, Rich hooked up with Jacksfamily after becoming beguiled with the music they created.

After just 8 weeks of intensive rehearsal the four piece took themselves into the recording studio to lay down tracks for the self financed ‘Poetry Of Souls album’ (2003). This was fitted into a schedule of live ‘warm up’ gigs in the area, to enable the band to perfect the songs.

After the release of ‘Poetry Of Souls’ Darren Tansley (piano/keys/samples) joined after the recording of Poetry of Souls and the family was now complete. Darren had played all over the world with Punk folk outfit Blyth Power and then toured extensively with Kelly in the Wickermen a few years earlier. His outstanding understanding of keyboards added a fuller sound to the live set after the recording of the “Man In The White Coat” EP (2005), they soon started to gain a live reputation far outweighing their initial status as support artists to established bands. The quality and originality of the music combined with the trademark violin and guitar solo’s set them aside from others in the genre and enraptured audiences and promoters alike.

In March 2008 they recorded their latest album ‘One Big Disguise’ at Trinity Heights Studios. This was an amazing experience for the band showing that the songs had risen to an altogether higher level. Unfortunatly before Jacks Family had the chance to promote the album Nicholas J. Spall was diagnosed with cancer and tragically passed away in October 2008. After some time out dealing with this great loss, Jacks Family are once again beginning to move forward and to plan the long awaited release of ‘One Big Diguise’, something that Nic also believed must carry on.

Jacksfamily are now working with 4M Management.
