Plastic Barricades
Plastic Barricades Bio:

The Plastic story begins in the autumn of 2007, when three strapping young lads decided to get together after a long-lasting moment of silence. Three friends – Dan, Jan and Kir – had not seen each other since the break-up of their previous band and decided that it was about time for that silence to come to an end.

The “official” birthday of the band can be considered the 7th of September – that is the day of the first rehearsal of the band that is known today as Plastic Barricades (or “PB” for short). How they came up with the name – that’s still a secret that the guys are keeping well hidden. Maybe they will unravel that mystery someday, maybe not.

As we go back to 2007, after the first rehearsal, the guys decide to dig deeper and continue writing songs in the same matter like they did at the first rehearsal (leaving the studio at 6 in the morning is no joke) and as they continued to write new material, they soon found themselves with quite a few songs, that have come together to a “crispy fresh” live set. Which, of course, Dan, Jan and Kir wanted to share with the public, so it was just about the right time to present themselves.

Which they did with great success – on the 21st of March, 2008, on the stage of Tallinn newly opened nightclub “Club 360” packed with people – friends, local press and loads of others, who have never even heard the name Plastic Barricades, but were eager to find out. For support on stage, the guys turned to a popular local hard-pop trio PX Band, who, by the way, are good friends of PB. ;) In order to get even more attention, especially for the presentation, the trio recorded their first single “London Walk”, which was handed out in the club by beautiful body-painted girls. As a result – a sold-out show, with very positive responses from the press and audience.

Having shown themselves to the public, the guys didn’t want to stop, so they participated in several band competitions, among which the most successful would be the international “Nissan UrbanD Playground” contest, where PB made it to the finals, but had to settle with 2nd place. Nevertheless, that didn’t discourage our brave heroes, as they continued to give successful shows through the summer and making plans for the autumn.

And as autumn arrived, it was time to put the plans into action and pack equipment into their green Volkswagen – the “Plastic On Baltics ‘08” tour started off with a sold out show at “Fontaine Palace” nightclub in Liepaja, Latvia, followed by other successful shows in Latvian and Lithuanian cities like Riga, Vilnius and Klaipeda. But the main “ear candy” was yet to be made – during the tour, PB went into the studio to record the “Metropolitan Paranoia” EP. Sound Division Studios in Riga became the band’s home for two whole weeks, at the end of which they came out with the EP – tired, but satisfied (you try going to sleep at 3 AM and be back in the studio at 10 AM for two weeks, we’ll see what you look like).

CD contains 6 tracks, united with a concept that was born during the spring-summer rehearsal sessions – paranoia of the people, living in a big city. The recording is not mastered yet; the final process will be done during January-February in UK’s capital – London.

Today the band is planning the release of the EP, searching for an indie-label that would be interested in cooperation. End of March will be the time for a big show in Tallinn, where PB will introduce their new studio work to their fans and others. The next big tour is scheduled for the summer, when PB is going to drive a long way through many open-air festivals in Baltics, Scandinavia, Northern and Eastern Europe. The biggest desire for the summer is to spread Plastic music in UK.

So, join the Plastic Barricades fan club and remember – Be afraid of Metropolitan Paranoia!!
