<itunes:summary> Christopher Scum. Well, I now sing for The DIRTY WORKS and we have a documentary coming out called Rebel Scum The Movie. How I got here is part dream most nightmare.
Before I could walk and talk I was magically drawn to music. I drove my family crazy throwing 45’s into the old Phonograph at my Grand Mothers house wanting music. They swear sometimes it would land right and play.
At 7 years old a step father came in my life and everything changed. We moved to a farm and all of a sudden I was put to work as a farm boy. I hated that like. I mean I fuckin’ hated everything about it.
This step father was into music and three for times a week he and friends would get together and play on the porch of our old farm house. Supposed to be in bed many nights I sat and listened to them hiding on the side of the porch.
The Childhood was violent, listening to AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, Judas Priest and others pulled me through till I was 14 when I got my first bass. Then That’s all I did. I was put on probation (HOUSE ARREST) for being drunk at a school function. I spent 6 months playing non stop. John Pual Jones was my Idol, but AC/DC was my band. So I started putting my own (JPJ Influenced) bass lines to Ac/Dc songs.
Long story short I got tired of fighting with my step father and the small time life of Manchester OH.
I stuck my thumb out and went the went the only place my heart led, South.
Landing In Knoxville I dove head first into the Music scene. Mostly into Punk Rock by then I also played in Cover bands to pay the rent, even playing in a PLAY at Fairfield Glade.
I had always been bad to drink but it got way outta hand. Even though I was known as a solid bassist rhythm guitarist, singer and songwriter after a few bands fell apart because my Drinking Etc, I was seen as a gifted but a real risk. Off The Wall, Stop Daddy, The Rogues, The Anal Daisys, Homewrecker and the Lillilids are all bands I created or helped to create and then was a big part
if not the reason for their demise.
I gave up trying to play and decided to drink myself to death, or die trying. I tried a few Geographical changes, went to many other cities and tried bands, to no avail.
When I came back to Knoxville I was living the life of a street drunk. I had a guitar my aunt bought me after a stint in rehab and I sat and carved curse words in the back to stop myself from pawning it. One article in the paper said back then I could always be seen with my guitar, a bottle and a tattered tablet I wrote in.
Now I’m seven years sober, not into AA or NA I just don’t do drugs or drink. Am I happy, **** no but at least I’m staying out of jail and sleeping in the same bed every night. I play in the best band I ever been in and am writing this stuff too.
I guess I finally gave up on dying and had to something.</itunes:summary>
