Robbing Noll Bio:

Like an accident waiting to happen is the best way to describe the history of Robbing Noll. A few friends brought together through the beauty of music. Every chord and every word a story waiting to happen and a journey through the things left undone and unseen yet never unwritten.

That's the lyrical version of our bio. The fact is we were all friends first and just kind of happened. Rob and Noll first started playing together way back around 1998. First formed the band Core with some fellow friends in the Gettysburg area. Core only played a few shows but the main thing that came out of it was the friendship of Rob and Noll. Core broke up and Rob and Noll formed Tied. We were going through a one word, one syllable band name thing at the time, can you tell? Tied was all new band members for Rob and Noll and played only a few shows as well. Most notably were the Bands, Bands, Bands shows which were coordinated by Rob and drew some very large crowds to Boppers bar in Gettysburg.

At one point while playing in Core or Tied Noll introduced some of the "This Side of 55" songs to Rob. Most of the songs on the album had been written for years and some had been started but never finished. Rob and Noll decided to continue to write and fine tune the "55" stuff and some day record the whole thing. After Tied Rob and Noll played a few show with themselves. While playing a charity gig in Biglerville, Pa Rob and Noll got their current name. The MC of the show was quite the tobacco chewer and like to chew while Mc'ing. Rob and Noll were to be annouced just like that "Rob and Noll". But when it was announced by the chewed filled mouth of the country filled MC with an already southern drawl it sounded like "Robbing Noll". The name was born.

Shortly after that gig Robbing Noll picked up Mike Ford who was playing in country and Blues bands. Soon after Robbing Noll decided to take the acoustic to a more heavy plugged in version and Troy and Tony came in. At the time Robbing Noll had 2 sides. There was the heavy cover band and the acoustic original band. This multiple personality would eventually break Robbing Noll up. Prior to forming the new Robbing Noll the "55" content was completely written and Rob and Noll were ready to record the CD. With Troy and Tony's help the band finally made it to the studio and completed "This Side of 55". Not long after releasing 55 the band came to a crossroads. Whether to support the CD or continue to play the covers. This decision was finally made and the heavy side was dropped.
