Matias Manser Bio:
Matias Manser was born in Switzerland. His dad, a jazz musician, introduced him to music early and he started to play the guitar at a young age. Jazz was cool but it wasn't rock n roll and bands like Alice in Chains soon became his biggest influence. During this time he tried to get a band together but couldn't find a singer. Frustrated by that fact Matias started to sing himself and gained experience performing in the local train station- which, at the time, earned him quite a decent pay from all of the people who passed him by.
Around 1992 the rock band "2 Tell" gave Matias a try singing for them and a relationship was born which lasted for a couple of years. They ended up recording an album and went on a tour throughout Hungary. But after the tour they broke up.
In 1996 Matias and his dad visited New York City and checked out the local music scene. This trip fueled his burning desire to leave Europe for a career in music in the U.S. He worked relentlessly for two years to get enough money together to make the big trip and by 1998 he was attending the Musicians Institute in Hollywood from where he graduated in 2000 with honors. It was at the Institute where he met the guys he founded the rock band "Cain Is Abel" with. For a couple of years they played gigs and recorded but eventually split because of musical differences.
Feeling angry and disappointed by the breakup he decided to take matters in his own hands. Matias built a home studio in his garage where he recorded the album HOME?. During the two years it took to complete the record he teamed up with Andri Leonardo (keys), a friend he knew from Switzerland, Gordon Bash (bass), and Kerim Aaron Imes (drums), and later with Preeta Carlson (vocals) and Will Tiao (cello) to complete the last couple of tracks.
The album features 11 songs that could be categorized as Alternative Rock with an acoustic edge.
Currently Matias is playing around town by himself acoustically and on certain occasions you can catch him with a full blown band.
